Gets the job done!
I installed this myself which is saying something considering I’m a 50 year old woman. The digging was made much easier after I used a 36” auger drill attachment to loosen the soil. I dug the hole with a post hole digger, put some drainage rocks in the bottom of the hole and set the dooly flush with the ground. Only problem I had was due to the soil where I live, it’s mostly sand and the hole kept caving in so I sunk a 8 inch drain pipe with holes drilled through sides down into the hole to shore up the walls. Next I added the water and the tablets that came with the product and it’s been working ever since! I haven’t had any problems with odor and each time I add a fresh pile of dog poop the previous one isn’t there. The product seems sturdy enough to do its job. I’m debating on moving it to a new location closer to my garden hose because it needs water to work properly and I believe it will hold up well if I do move it Pretty cool product. I keep my garbage can in my garage and it doesn’t smell like dog crap since I started using this. I have one large golden retriever but she has friends over often who like to poop here so I use the product a lot. Hope this helps anyone who is on the fence deciding if they want to buy this, I’m glad I did!

Works awesome until ground goes cold in winter. Still have not give up though.
We purchased this Doggie Dooley. When it arrived I was surprised it wasnt more sturdy. Once we finally dug the hole dimensions which was a job, we insert the dooley. All summer this worked great, as long as we were good at picking poop up at least every 1-3 days AND filling with water as directed, next day all poop was disolved. Although, when we filled and did the intitial water test, some of the dirt from the sidewalls that we just dug tried to cave in. This did not affect the dooley. We did find that once the Fall got here the poop did not disolve as quickly. When Winter got here, the dooley in now filling with poop. I have called septic tank pumping places, they have told me that the ground temp affects the ability for the enzymes to do their job. The suggestion was to activate the enzymes by putting them in warm water before putting the solution in the ground. We were just adding cold hose water all summer/fall/winter, never had a problem til the ground went cold. I think if you live in areas that your ground doesnt get super cold this would be great. I havent given up on this dog dooley yet. I have been getting warm water from the sink and pouring it in the hole. I live in southern Oregon. We have not had snow, and have only had temps just dip below freezing. Our ground is not frozen, and has not froze yet. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Great. With caveats.
Overall we love it for the ability to clean up fast and without having to use a bag or something as a middle man but it loses a star because the top cracked within the first few months and eventually shattered. So if your dogs are large dogs (we have an almost 100lb Doberman): 1. Make sure the placement is in an area they won't step on it much. Also probably in an area you don't need to mow/ can trim around easily by hand. 2. If you have clay soil it might not work. It didn't work too well for us at first but over time it's breaking down faster/better. 3. Using your own (natural) septic enzymes can increase the speed of the process. Vs the tiny tablets they provide.

Why, oh why didn't we get this sooner??
We bought ours and installed it three weeks ago. It seems to do the trick and decomposes our Leonberger's copious piles of waste as intended and without odor. A few observations: 1) do follow the instructions and dig a hole 4 feet deep. That depth seems to work well. 2) Forget about using this if your property is situated on a bed of clay. You need natural drainage in order for this to work. 3) We have added an enzyme tablet or a shot of Rid X every 5 to 6 days and it seems to do the trick. 4) Every two days we add a gallon or two of water to keep the system moist 5) We tried using "biodegradeable" plastic bags made from starch, and these take longer to decompose, so we have started to use paper towels when possible to transport the waste to the system. The paper towels quickly disappear. 6) For the most part, the waste seems to disappear. On occasion it appears to pile up six or seven inches, so: 7) In order to turbocharge the system and pursuant to the suggestion of one reviewer we bought a bag of mealworms on Amazon. These guys arrived in the mail this morning and are now happily residing in the cess pit. We'll follow up with how that works to enhance the performance of the system. All in all we are more than satisfied with this arrangement.... no more stench-plagued garbage cans full of smelly green bags of poop.

Great idea but flimsy product
The concept is great and exactly what I was looking for. The build quality is disappointing for how much this cost. The entire container is thin plastic, seems to be decent strength, but nowhere near as strong as say a PVC pipe or 5 gal bucket. Once I put it in the ground and pushed the dirt near the opening, I heard it crunch! Thankfully it was not damaged and I put a decorative fence around it to prevent anyone from stepping close. But if I was putting this in a place people walked I'd be very concerned. I'm ok with the purchase, it's in the ground now. Took about two hours to dig the 18x18x16" hole, followed by a 4 foot hole. So my primary concern is whether this thing will hold up coz digging it out will be a total pain (not to mention disguisting). In hindsight, a 5 gal painters bucket with an easy open lid would be a better and less expensive solution. Just dig the opening for the bucket then a 4ft post hole and buy the septic solution. Do make sure you test your soil drainage capability by digging the first hole, filling it up with water and make sure it drains within ~24hrs. I still gave this 3 stars. If it works then it's worth it imo, though overpriced for what you get.

I thought by buying this I'd be more encouraged to pick up the poo, but nup it's just some weird green lid in my lawn. Easy to install and the dig whole wasnt huge so phew I didn't have to work to hard for that green lid.

I can't believe this nifty product isn't recommended in a Dog Owner's 101 course somewhere. I love it! I'm not going to lie to you - digging a five foot hole was not an easy task but so worth it in the long run. I did not have an auger so to get 5 feet down my hole had to get pretty large. The plastic is a little bit flimsy and didnt hold the shape very well when we put the dirt back on top so we framed the sides of our hole with some scrap pieces of wood and all was good. For maintenance, I add two "Waste Terminator" tablets per week (one per dog) and 4 litres (milk jug) of water every time I add poo. Very easy and absolutely no smell even when I open the lid. I suppose, like other reviews say, there maybe cheaper ways to make your own one of these contraptions but I am extremely happy with mine. Thank you! Five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
