Everything you need to know to repair, maintain and customize your handguns! Working on your own guns can be both fun and economical, and in this all-new fourth edition of Gunsmithing Pistols & Revolvers , certified master gunsmith and best-selling firearms author Patrick Sweeney shows you how to avoid costly repairs and improve your handgun’s performance. Hundreds of photographs give step-by-step instructions on how to perform basic maintenance and repairs on a variety of popular pistols and revolvers. Professional gunsmiths typically charge $50-75 per hour for the same services and repairs detailed in Gunsmithing Pistols & Revolvers, 4th Edition . Sweeney shows you how to save that money by cleaning, polishing, customizing and making minor repairs on your own pistols and revolvers. Completely revised and updated Projects for the beginner and the advanced enthusiast Review: GREAT book - I found a online copy of an old issue of this book and just had to buy the newer edition. It's got so much good info in it, it's worth every penny. If you tinker with your handguns, buy this book. Review: good reference to keep on hand - constant referral in my library.I go back time and again when I have a senior moment, and forget where a part needs to go.

Useful, interesting and helpful
I found this a good book to give overall guidance and detail on a number of jobs. The explanations of how things work are very useful for understanding what is going on in the mechanisms and what the consequences of changes will be. It's relatively up to date but Mr Sweeney does go over some basic things quickly; maybe a little too quickly for beginners. A book such as Pistolsmithing by George C. Nonte is a good companion. The photographs are much better than the 3rd edition. Don't pay any attention to what's on the back of the book though: completely revised, well yes it has been revised; there are no chapters on the S&W M&P, nor Ruger SR9/40/45, nor the CZ-75. I've found a few explanations difficult to follow when talking about specific parts of a handgun component: diagrammes or pictures with arrows would be a great help. Generally the photos and text work well together. Clear fault-finding and fixing chapters. Overall a very good book which I would recommend; one star off for the false advertising.
