Review: but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or ... - When I first started reading this book I thought I wouldn't learn too much, my kiddo just hit the 1 year mark and we are part purees so I though well probably not much here for me. Boy was I wrong! First and foremost I thought I knew a lot about purees, but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or spice to enhance the flavors for the little ones, I would have never thought about it! I also love the idea that they have that we should think about our kids as just little versions of ourselves and that they should eat essentially little versions of what we eat. I think that is just an amazing idea, where most of us are thinking that babies and kids need special foods and to be different, but they really don't. Some helpful things I also came across in the book were reasons to cook at home, what foods to not give to the kiddos, when and how to introduce both purees and solids, storing purees. I also love that the book is broken up by age, that is so helpful! I am excited to dive into the 12 month section, then the 24 month section. Two recipes I am so excited about for the 12 month section is the sesame tofu stick and health shepards pie. I received this book for an honest review. Review: My favorite baby cookbook - I've ordered and read 6 baby cookbooks and this one is by far my favorite. I do cook/am a foodie to some extent, so most of the other baby food cookbooks were way too basic for me- and also not a reflection of what my baby will be eating when she joins the adults in a few months. This book has great pointers and has given me plenty of inspiration as well as little nutrition facts with some of the recipes. For instance, we love the mango/coconut milk/chia seed purรฉe! I didn't know how healthy chia seeds were until this book. It's also not overly preachy or paranoid like some of the other baby cookbooks! That being said, they are all pretty out of date on the most recent medical info on baby food allergies. My baby likes things super purรฉed so far (she's 7.5 mos) so she does better when I poach vs steam, and I just blend the poaching liquid in with the food to keep whatever leached out of the food during cooking. As for the others I bought: baby food bible: so-so and spent too much time trying to convince me to do what I was already planning to do (hence buying baby cookbooks). Had some good advice on knowing when baby is ready to start solids, etc. Top 100 baby purรฉes: return for a refund. First of all, many recipes are not purรฉes so the title is misleading. It's just also not good. I'm shocked that it's rated so highly and that the author is famous for this stuff. Cooking for baby: my second favorite. Good information about which foods cause or relieve constipation, good for herbs. The baby and toddler cookbook: this one is fine. It's just middle of the road for me. French kids eat everything: I loved reading this book and it has some pretty decent recipes too. It helps you feel calmer about food allergies etc when all the American baby cookbooks can get you a bit worked up.

Amazing book!!
I have completely fallen in love with this book. It grabs you from the first chapter "Babies are People, Too" That chapter is worth the price of the whole book. I learned a lot from it! And it is so interesting to learn what foods babies from other countries start out with. Then you get to the recipes. Recipe after recipe of delicious foods for baby. They look so yummy, I would totally be stealing bites from my baby! And super healthy. Nothing but organic and clean eating. In the end there is a chapter for recipes for 2 and up, and a lot of them make enough servings for the adults, too, so these are recipes you can use for your family dinner. And delicious! I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are completely my own. I can't wait to put these recipes into action. Such a great book!

Nice gift for new mom
This book, Little Foodie is great for mothers who want to feed healthy food to their babies from the start. In part I the author write about the different foods served to babies around the world. According to her a baby can eat anything as long as there is no family history of allergies. It also tells you what foods to avoid before 12 months age. The recipes are divided by the age. They all look very yummy. I wish I had this book when my children were young. It is a very nice gift to give to a new mom. These days most people are leaning towards natural and organic foods free of chemicals and preservatives. You can make these foods, snacks and smoothies. These can be frozen in a freezer tray and thaw when you are ready to feed the baby. This way less is wasted and youโll know what your baby likes. A nice way to develop your babyโs taste for different foods. I received this book free in exchange for my honest opinion.

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend while trying to find recipes for food that we could eat along with our daughter. I am a terrible amateur cook and easily overwhelmed by recipes with more than about five ingredients, but Little Foodie is presented in a pleasant and colourful layout. Each section begins with an overview by the author sharing her personal experiences and advice. The recipes are separated by age group and cover everything from simple purees to finger foods and meals that the whole family could enjoy. The bright pictures make even simple pea puree look like something I want to snack on. Beyond all of that, though - they are easy to follow and taste delicious! I use the pear and clove puree in a chunkier form in my oatmeal, and the baby also loves it. 'You Put the Lime in the Coconut' is now a beloved family curry dinner recipe with the addition of some salt and other spices for adult palates. As a full-time worker outside of the home and a part-time student, I find these recipes some of the easiest to fit into my schedule and am looking forward to trying more.

This is a great book if youโre looking to get your babies to ...
This is a great book if youโre looking to get your babies to eat healthy from the start! While I am not a mother, I have a few friends who are about to become first time moms. One of them is highly allergic to a few foods herself and wants to be as clean as possible with the babyโs foods! The first section has a lot of info and even includes a list of foods to avoid, and โhow to.โ It teaches you how to make your own baby food with clean, non-processed ingredients. You have better control over what you are putting in the babyโs body that way. I think if you teach kids young to eat fruits and veggies, they will always eat them. My niece is a perfect example. Sheโs six, loves fruits, smoothies and veggies and doesnโt like candy! The second part of the book are the recipes. And there are a TON of recipes. The recipes are simple and are even broken down into age groups! This book will get your baby eating right from the beginning! *Product received for review*

Too sweet for us
I really, really wanted to like this book. I bought it about a year ago to get some ideas while my then 2yo was food fussy. I made the slow cooker tagine hoping to only make one meal, I bought all the ingredients and followed the recipe to a T (rare for me): my daughter could care less for it and it really didnโt have enough of a flavor punch for my husband and I. I have also tried the smoothies and some of the snacks and have found that they use too much sweetener. While I love honey (and maple syrup) and believe in its medicinal qualities, I donโt think that a smoothie with 2 oranges, 1/2 cup of cherries, 1 cup of orange juice needs two tablespoons of honey - again, followed the recipe to a T and my suspicions were right: it was too sweet. I now use the book more of an inspiration source and adjust recipes for my taste - and if thatโs what youโre looking for, then this is a great book for that! If youโre on the fence about buying the book, maybe try out some of the recipes from her blog first and then youโll get a feel for whether itโs to your taste or not. I also have to agree with previous reviewers about the index being a little off, I was looking for a smoothie that contained orange and cherries but because neither of those fruits were in the name of the smoothie it took me FOREVER to find it in the book!

My favorite baby food cookbook and guide!
I have really gotten a lot of use out of this book. My baby has eaten everything I have made him from this book. I've been using it since he started solids at seven months and he's 12 months now. I also use The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet: Know What Goes Into Every Bite with More Than 200 of the Most Deliciously Nutritious Homemade Baby Food ... More Than 60 Purees Your Baby Will Love , Start Fresh: Your Child's Jump Start to Lifelong Healthy Eating , and Naturally Delicious Meals for Baby: Over 150 Fun, Fresh, and Easy Recipes to Nourish Your Baby and Toddler by Hawes, Gerrie [Da Capo Press, 2005] (Paperback) [Paperback ]. Little Foodie is my favorite because the recipes are close to what I myself would want to eat, which I think prepares my baby for eating with the family. The book is broken down into six sections: 1. The food you eat- smaller 2. The how-to chapter 3. Purees 4+months 4. Finger foods, snacks and smoothies 9+months 5. Our meal is your meal 12+months 6. Dinners on demand 24+months I like that the chapters are broken up by age group, which makes it easy to look up recipes in an age range. It also gave me a lot of courage to make up my own recipes based on what I have on hand instead of just heating and pureeing frozen vegetables.

Viel Spass beim Kochen!
