WiFi failed after 5 weeks - check your home network, all of it.
Update - make sure if you have a WiFi repeater on your network that you may need to reset that in addition to your router. I have no idea why every other item in my house worked fine and this didn’t. But I reset that device and now this is working again. So back to a 5 start review. Loved this thing for as long as it worked, all of 5 weeks. It’s great to be able to set the probes in the meat I’m cooking, leave the block next to my Traeger, and then using the WiFi I was able to monitor anywhere in the house. That was until thanksgiving day when this device all of a sudden refused to connect to my WiFi. It can see the networks but not connect. Spent an hour trouble shooting and finally gave up and started the turkey without. Did more trouble shooting including the following: 1) new batteries 2) factory reset of device 3) deleted and reloaded the iOS app 4) checked network - all other devices worked fine 5) tried to connect MEATER block to another WiFi (my phones personal hotspot) and it still didn’t work. 6) went into my home network router and defined a static IP address for the MEATER’s MAC address in case there was an issue there with assigning a MAC address, nope. 7) tried again when less people at my house thinking maybe it was a bandwidth issue and still won’t connect. NONE IF THE ABOVE WORK! I’m out of ideas. I’ve reached out to customer service and will update if able.

She married me for my cooking
I BBQ on a Trager grill and the Bluetooth only version of the MEATER as well as two other Bluetooth only probes I tried have a limited range of about 6-feet due to the thick lining of the Trager grill. This prevents me from monitoring my cooking when I am in my house. I also tried another WIFI thermometer which supports 8-probes but found the software to be so flakey that it would often hang. The Meater Block is by far the best cooking system I have ever used for the following reason. Packaging – This device is very well packaged and the wooden block is beautiful. I liked that they integrated a USB charging port as well as batteries but due to corrosion I would like to see them move away from batteries and just have a rechargeable one. Software Setup – This is so simple and only took a few minutes including account creation. Pairing to the block on my Samsung phone was effortless and connecting the block to my WIFI was also super easy. Software – The Phone interface on this is hands down the best I have ever seen. You simply hit the power button on the block and tell it to connect to WIFI which it does in a few seconds. I like that the LED on the block shows you the Bluetooth connectivity of each probe to the block and when you fire up the software on your phone, it quickly connects to the block over WIFI. My favorite part of the Software is that when you say cook, it gives you 6-options (Beef, Pork, Poultry, Lamb, Fish, or other and then many sub categories and then lets you determine how you want the item to cook (Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well, or Well Done and it recommends temp based on safety guidelines. One of the things that sets this apart is because it measures both internal food temp and ambient external temp, it is able to calculate how long it will take for your food to cook. This is especially handy of you are cooking multiple things like a big roast and some chicken at the same time Hardware – The block looks great and is easy to clean. The probes and also stylish and very easy to clean. If someone asks, I do not know if these probes can be used in water like sous-vide or other cooking devices. Conclusion – Later this year I will probably update my Trager to the latest model that has WIFI support but I will continue to use these probes as they are amazing. I have never once lost connectivity to the block so that says something about the stability of the device. Aside from a rechargeable battery, my only other feature request is that the Estimated cook time calculation could be speed up as sometimes it takes up to 7-minutes for this to register but overall an amazing product.

Terrible quality for a high price tag
I've given this plenty of chances over the course of over 2 years. About 8 months in, the device no longer held a charge and had to be plugged in to use. I spent more time fussing with getting these probes connected than I've been able to spend actually cooking with them. Even when they do "work" I can't really trust them for more than a ballpark estimate as to what the temp actually is. It's ambient temp sensors were never accurate. That contributes to estimated cooking times never being remotely close. Im sitting here writing this review while I am approaching my very last straw with this device, waiting for it to connect. Even worse, is sometimes it does work, then at a random point will stop working, in the meantime giving you no errors and a temp that is far behind real time, and only sometimes will it realize it's been giving you false information when you restart everything (but don't do that because now you'll be trying to get it to connect long after you planned to have dinner). Simply not worth the price. Even when it was working. I rarely leave reviews, but this thing is awful and it is one item in a long time that I wish I never wasted the time or money on.

Must have for cooks.
Works great, super useful for steaks. Made the best steak I ever managed, thanks to the MEATER Block. Very easy to use and quick to setup. Any meat you want to cook it has great suggested temps, very versatile. It's portability is great with 4 double A's and a cellphone you can use it anywhere. The display is no nonsense and let you know exactly what you need to know

Has performed well, but some usability issues
I have used wired thermometers and have found them to be clumsy and less than ideal. I love the idea of having a wireless thermometer to help me get my meals right - I'm not the best cook in the world. The reason I went with the Meater is because I often cook for more than 2 people who like their meat/fish cooked differently and so needed a device with more than 1 or 2 probes. There were others I considered for various reasons but was not clear on how many probes could be connected so I opted for this one. The GOOD: so far it has been right on with getting the meals cooked just right. I tested from medium rare to well done and each one has been done correctly whether meat or fish. So, in terms of improving my ability to serve the food the way it's requested it's been great and has helped improve my game. It also predicts the estimated cook time, including the resting time after taking it out. The first estimate has proven to be pretty accurate and rarely changes the estimate during cooking. The software is also pretty simple and straightforward as long as everything is "cooking" without issues. When there are issues, such as a lost signal, it is less intuitive on how to remedy the situation. The NOT-SO-GOOD: The probes are quite thick and for thinner cuts of meat/fish will probably be less reliable. I had some thinner cuts of salmon that came out right, but I had to be very careful with the probe placement. They are also a bit long and need to be placed fairly deep, so for meat/fish that doesn't have at least a 4-inch width the tip of the probe may be too close to the surface of the opposite side leading to less reliable results, if that makes sense. Some of the other manufacturers have slimmer and shorter probes which I would prefer. The FRUSTRATING: The probes connect to the "meat block" via Bluetooth (BT), which in my experience has a functional range of 10-15 feet max. Then the "meat block" can use your Wifi to connect to your phone and keep you posted on the progress of the cooking. This works well, as long as all of your probes are in cuts of meat/fish that are close to the BT enabled "meat block". However, if you are grilling something outdoors, and baking or frying something indoors there is a fair chance the "meat block" won't be in BT range of all of the probes and you'll have connection issues - which is the bane of this device's existence. Once you lose connection the estimated cook time is lost as are the updates so you're then flying blind. On at least one occasion when I relocated food so it was again in range of the "meat block" it was unable to re-establish connection and so was not able to estimate the cook time or send updates any longer. After that happened to me once I made a point of setting a timer on my phone for the estimated cook time just in case I lose connection again. This somewhat diminishes the benefit of having 4 probes. It might be better to purchase 2 two probe blocks so they can be monitoring food in different locations. Overall, I'm satisfied but not overly so. I'm tempted to give it 3 stars however it has led to successful completion of just about every meal for which I've used them, which is the whole point of the device isn't it? Hence 4 stars. Because of the aforementioned shortcomings I cannot give it 5 stars. I haven't decided if I'll keep it or try a different brand that has slimmer shorter probes that can combine 2 BT stations to have a total of 4 probes. Once I've figured that out, I'll update the review.

From One Probe to Four… I’ve Created a MEATER Obsession 😂
I started out with the single probe MEATER thermometer and loved it so much that I let my dad borrow it one weekend. Big mistake… because he loved it too! He kept talking about how convenient it was, so I ended up buying him the dual probe version for Christmas. Well… then I got jealous 😂 After seeing how nice the upgraded wireless versions were, I finally treated myself to the 4-probe MEATER during the Amazon Spring Sale, and now I honestly don’t know how I ever cooked without it. These thermometers are seriously amazing. The wireless functionality makes SUCH a difference compared to my original Bluetooth-only version. The Bluetooth worked fine, but having the wireless connection is way more convenient and reliable, especially when moving around the house or outside while grilling or smoking meat. The app is easy to use, the temperature readings have been accurate, and it takes so much stress out of cooking. Whether it’s steak, chicken, pork, or multiple things at once, everything comes out perfectly cooked without constantly checking the grill or oven. Yes, they are definitely a little pricey, but in my opinion they are 100% worth the money if you cook often or love grilling. At this point, MEATER has basically become the family gift that keeps multiplying 😂 Highly recommend!

Know When Your Protein is Done and Cooked to Perfection
I have been using the Meater Block sine May, 2024. It does an excellent job of letting me know when my food is cooked to the doneness that I want. Especially with chicken. You can customize the doneness that you want. For example, if you want medium rare for a filet mignon, the app will recommend it and let you customize it. If there is a downside, the probes cannot take temperatures above 500 degrees. However, it will warn you when that happens so you can adjust the temperature or move the protein to another part of the grill. The Meater is perfect for smoking meats low and slow such as pork butts or brisket. It takes out the guesswork of when the meat is completely done or if you have powered through a "stall" and need to wrap it in foil. The probes are thick so you will need at least a 1" or more thickness of your protein. The app estimates cook time after a few minutes of assessing ambient temperature and starting and finishing internal temperatures. It will tell you when the protein is ready to be removed from heat and when it is done "resting" so you know exactly when you can cut into it. I highly recommend this.

Precise, Convenient, and Backed by Amazing Customer Support!
I recently upgraded my grilling game with the MEATER Block, and I’m blown away by how much easier and more accurate it’s made cooking—especially for larger gatherings. What Stood Out: Wi-Fi Range & Cloud Access The built-in Wi-Fi extends well beyond Bluetooth, so I can monitor cooks from anywhere in my house—or even away from home via the MEATER Cloud. Four Dual-Sensor Probes Each probe tracks both internal meat temperature (up to 212 °F) and ambient heat (up to 527 °F). Having four lets me grill different meats to their ideal doneness at the same time. Smart Cooking Guidance The guided cook system walks me through every step with resting/cooking time estimates and custom alerts. Standalone Operation + Stylish Block The real bamboo charging block has a sleek OLED display that works even without a phone. It runs on AA batteries or micro-USB. Durable & Easy to Clean The probes are stainless steel and ceramic, water-resistant, and dishwasher-safe. Fantastic Customer Support This was a huge plus for me. I accidentally damaged one probe (my fault, not theirs), and even though it was out of warranty, MEATER’s support team was quick and easy to work with. They gave me a discount on a replacement probe and are sending me a new one—no hassle, no runaround. That level of service really adds confidence in investing in a premium product. What Could Be Better: AA Battery Dependency – The block charges probes using 4x AA batteries. Micro-USB powers the block but doesn’t charge the probes, so spares are a must for long cooks. No Micro-USB Cable Included – Would’ve been nice if it came in the box. Not for Direct Open-Fire Grilling – If you need that, the MEATER Pro or Pro XL are better options. Final Verdict: The MEATER Block is a game changer for backyard chefs, smokers, and anyone serious about grilling. It delivers precision, freedom, and consistent results—and it’s backed by a support team that truly cares about their customers. Worth every penny, and I’ll gladly keep using it for years to come.

Wireless and works perfectly
This is a seriously nice piece of kit. It not only looks great, but is easy to use and works exactly as I hoped. The app is really nice and easy to use. The only minor criticism I have is that the little numbered clips that identify each probe fall of easily and can be lost. Expensive at $450 in Australia but you get what you pay for.

Simple Set Up - Not..
Set up complicated and did not work. Suggested I needed to change my internet settings to accommodate the item which I was unable to do. What should be a ‘plug and play’ item turns in to an expensive annoyance…

A must have for anyone that BBQs.
Wife bought me this and it's a great thing to have, especially if you're cooking more than one piece of meat. If everyone likes their steak a different way, this is a great way to keep track of it. The app is simple and it works really well.
