The Prince: A Gabriel's Inferno/Florentine Series Novella

I received in exchange for a honest review. Mr. Reynard has done a exquisite job in introducing a new series to us and giving us a great foundation to begin the next book with. What is so wonderful is that he is showing respect to his fans and his characters from the Gabriel inferno series by having the beloved Gabriel and Julianne take on roles in this series as well. They are nicely intertwined in the new series without overpowering or taking over the series. They help to enhance and bring on more mystery to a already mysterious and suspenseful book. Here the writing and plot is deliciously done and mouth watering good. Mr. Reynard leaves us with a perfect moment to be blissfully lead into The Raven with this novel. What he has done is give us the background needed for us to understand the beginnings of the Florentine series. We have a supernatural Prince who feels slighted and wants revenge. That lust for revenge is felt on each page and thought that is expressed. Reynard does an excellent job portraying that rage and anger that is festering inside the Prince and how this has turned into a revenge that has just taken over his thoughts. However one must wonder if he should step back a moment and think if his revenge is going to be acted on the correct people? What if the ones who have what you seek didn’t wrong you or did unknowingly? These are just a few questions that will arise from this story as you are set in its web and never truly let go. The Prince has several plots going on and they intertwine to make one amazing book. Each plot is intriguing and enticing and Reynard has the gift of giving just enough detail to entangle you in and keep you there until he is ready to let you go but he never truly does let you go. He keeps you on the end of the rope and dangles more enticing concepts and has you raise more questions that by the time you are done you are just hooked. The plots are all suspenseful in their own way and each will leave you with questions. The illustrations for example- who stole them originally? Why steal them? Why not find out if the owners know they were stolen originally? With what you find out in this book you wonder why they are so important to the Prince. Just so many webs and questions that you are salivating for more. The sacred ground scene- so many questions. Why go there? Why is it so important? Who is it he is talking to? The Prince’s past is a fascination as well for we are eluded to it but never really know it all. It’s dangled in front of us but always out of reach so we are end up like little kids with our hands in the cookie jar. The deal with the Prince of Venice that has all kinds of questions and suspense. Truly remarkable how seamlessly all the plots and stories come together and are interwoven within each paragraph and page. The book is passionately written and really is a brilliant way to entice readers and get them entranced in the story and the Florentine series. Each character will bring about strong emotions within and also leave you wondering how they fit and their past. The plots have you enraptured and wanting more. The journey that the reader is embarking on starting in this book is intriguing and amazing. The plots and the writing truly wrap you in a cocoon of intrigue and comfort and never really let you go and now you just want more-more of the Prince and his secrets, more of his revenge, more of Gabriel and Julianne just more of everything. A truly exquisite beginning to what I see to be a bloody brilliant and intriguing series. This book comes out on January 20th and I highly recommend giving Sylvain Reynard a chance if you haven’t read him before and giving this series a try.

I adore the writing of Sylvain Reynard. His writing makes my soul sing as he envelopes me into his stories with his finally crafted tales of love and redemption. He has entered the writing world of paranormal romance with his novella The Prince: A Gabriel’s Inferno/Florentine Series Novella. My fellow readers, who are in love with Gabriel and Julianne from the Gabriel Inferno novels, will thrill at the chance for more time with the couple. I was enraptured in the dark mystery of the Prince, the main character’s title in Reynard’s tale of betrayal, assassination, and revenge. Gabriel and Julianne were used as a tie into this new world as the couple had some stolen property that once belonged to the Prince. He doesn’t like people touching his belongings, nor does he appreciate the people who happen to find themselves owners of it. For future reference, don’t be touching the Prince’s stuff! Some readers may not like the Prince since his revenge is centered on the Emersons. The Prince is not this character’s name, but rather his title. He is the Prince of Florence, which in Reynard’s paranormal world is still a principality; and Rome is the kingdom. The Prince is surrounded by a council who he rules with an iron hand. You risk your life by failing him. The Prince acts as if his council is just itching to betray him, and you can tell he has major trust issues. You can’t have true loyalty without trust, and the Prince is setting himself up for his own problems when he refuses to rely on others. But he understands that friendships, although rewarding, comes with a cost, especially if it leads to betrayal; because it would be a difficult thing to kill a friend. I suspect that some in his inner circle are historical characters, which made for a very interesting read. As with any good paranormal tale, the paranormal elements are natural and flow naturally in the story. It is implied that the Prince and his ilk are vampires that are able to die via beheading. But a wound to the heart is not a mortal one. In Reynard’s story, paranormals do not run and hiss at the site of religious paraphernalia, as evidence by the Prince’s visit to the Spanish Chapel of Santa Maria Novella during his one sided conversation with his mentor. I shall offer no hints on who the Prince’s mentor could be, and will let the reader figure this one out on their own. As I suspected, who the Prince was in his past mortal life and who he is presently are total opposites. Yes, the mystery and history that the Prince holds make me absolutely giddy. The conversation with his mentor also leads us to a general estimate of the Prince’s age. Let’s just say he’s no spring chicken. Reynard has also set up a group of baddies called the Curia, a group even the vampires are wary of. This series has promise and I am thrilled to see Reynard’s world building progress. The use of the Italian model of principality to mold his vampire society is brilliant. Can Machiavelli and the Medicis be far behind? Giddy Dance. Please note loose ends abound, as this is a prequel to Reynard’s new Florentine series.

‘The Prince’ is totally different from the ‘Gabriel’ series but equally brilliant and enjoyable. SR is the most talented author I have read in a very long time.

Finally I finished reading ‪The Prince‬ and all I can say is that I fall in love with the dark mysterious and sexy Prince of Florence. If you like the paranormal romance, you must not miss this book. If you don't like the paranormal romance, you must give it a try. I assure you won't be disappointed. I'm an enemy of giving spoilers so I only dare to say that if you miss Julia & Gabriel (from Gabriel's Inferno Series), you will find scenes of The Emersons and as you will see, there will be someone who will be jealous of their love... Someone who enjoys being in the darkness, someone who rules the underworld, someone who wants his vendetta...

Sou fã de Sylvain. Li a trilogia Gabriel's Inferno e já tinha uma boa expectativa quanto a Florentione's Series. Não me decepcionei. Adoro o estilo dele e o fato de ele ser um excelente pesquisador. Seus livros nos fazem viajar na imaginação e desejar conhecer os locais e artes citados nos livros. Parabéns Sylvain!

Bella novella: riesce a mischiare alla perfezione Gabriel e Julianne e Il Principe di Firenze con i nuovi personaggi appena accennati.... Certo deve introdurci i personaggi di The Raven che sarà il romanzo vero e proprio... Quindi alcuni buchi e alcune cose non dette ci stanno e anzi sono obbligatorie. Chi ha amato la trilogia di Gabriel e ama SR in generale non può perderselo
