Urban Sketching for Beginners: A Beginner’s Guide to Urban Sketching, Including Techniques, Step By Step Exercises, Tips and Tricks

I just recently purchased "Urban Sketching for Beginners". I want to say firstly that I purchased 5 books by different authors on drawing. I received this one last, and like they say... save the best for last. Yours was the easiest for me to comprehend on how to draw. The author breaks it down to where it is not overwhelming to this left-brained wannabe artist. I even love the feel of the cover, I find myself just running my hand over the cover of the book because it feels so nice. I normally don't leave feedback here on Amazon, but this book was so awesome that I had to. this time. As soon as I can afford another book, I will be purchasing your other drawing book. This book is well thought out. Information is spoon fed for easy retention. The author is considerate and encouraging. I have no idea what material of the cover is made of but it feels so nice. LOL I would buy this book again.

I found this book lead me to new directions. Some I had forgotten over the years. I enjoyed the trip with the author leading the way. Inspiring and insightful!

I'm halfway through this book doing the exercises as I go. I love Liron's explanations, examples, and clear instructions, and tips to get to the next level with your drawing skills.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. The very basics in order to get off square one which is where I have been stuck. Great book.

Really helpful book, I love its approach to urban sketching. Very simple and straightforward, and I really feel like I can do this. Most books I checked assume you know some stuff but this one doesn't. I'm already sketching and enjoying and seeing results.

The key word here is "beginners." Yanconsky has developed a book for people who have never drawn before. (That's what he says, not what I'm claiming.) The book has a lot of blank spaces, as in the back of almost every page. Okay, it's not THAT bad, but with all the empty space on the pages, it feels like about half a book. So there is very little help in how to do "urban" sketching. What is offered is good. If you have never drawn before and are wanting to work with an interesting style (see the cover of the book) that is not concerned with looking like a photograph... then you might want to consider this book. On the other hand, don't expect the kind of results Yanconsky gets because his drawing abilities are way beyond "beginner." If you want to learn to HOW draw, go with "You Can Draw in 30 Days: The Fun, Easy Way to Learn to Draw in One Month or Less" by Mark Kistler. With Kistler's book you have a foundation to draw anything in any style.

I am very disappointed with this book. There was no packing receipt in the envelope. There is no publisher or address in the book. Yanconsky must have had it done through a vanity press. The grammar is very bad throughout the book. The examples are weak. He seems to begin a lesson and it goes no where. He writes on the second page, "This book is licensed for your personal enjoyment only. This book may not be resold or given away to other people. If you would like to share this book with another person, please purchase an additional copy for each recipient." Are you kidding me??? I feel like he is just trying to cash in on the Urban Sketching movement without really having the know-how on how to write a book or how to teach sketching. This book needs to be taken off the Amazon site.

This is for beginners and is very informative. Ok for non beginner refresher.

Fatto molto bene

Cannot recommend this book. Illustrations are crudely done in greyscale along with a few black and white photos, with no colour. It has the feel of something knocked up on a photocopier. Have given a star just their bothering to print the covers in colour. Very uninspiring. Spend your money on one of the many excellent sketching books out there.
