Great cable at a great price!
I saw this cable selling elsewhere for about $30.00, and did some comparison shopping. I have a UV-5RH radio, and it works fine, even with Windows 11. Cable seems durable, is long enough (about 6 feet), and performs as it should. Very pleased with this. I also have a TDRadio Bluetooth dongle that works with a cellphone app, but I prefer to use a computer/laptop. I would recommend this cable solution for anybody who wants to program their radio with a computer instead of a phone. I don't like the idea of needing an internet connected computer to access the TDRadio method of programming. This cable does exactly what I want it to, and it doesn't need a privacy invading internet connection to do it.

Works great with a Baofeng UV-5R
When purchasing a programming cable for a Baofeng UV-5R radio please be aware that there are cables out there that look like they would fit, and in fact they would fit. However the cheap knockoffs are just a cable with the correct ends and do not contain the required integrated circuit within the end with the USB connector. Those cables WILL NOT WORK! I got this cable on Amazon. It shipped very fast nd arrived in good shape. I inserted the included mini-CD disk and did the setup on my laptop. I downloaded the free programming software ( CHIRP ) and proceeded to program the UV-5R with no problems.

This cable works
The important thing to do is to let your computer have time to accept the cable and make sure that the Kenwood style plug is firmly placed all the way into your radio. This cord didn't work for a while and after playing with it for a while, it worked because the failure is probably user error. I didn't need the CD and I didn't need to install drivers for my radios.

Pay for quality! Skip this product
This thing stinks. Okay, get ready. I bought this six month back and quickly programmed my radios. It worked and I was happy. Put it into storage and decided to go more indepth. And wouldn't you know it? This cable will program a Baofeng UV-5R, but it won’t read anything back. It’ll upload channels fine, but the receive side is dead, so CHIRP just sits there and the radio freezes waiting for a reply. Basically a one-way cable. Works half the time, and the half that matters doesn’t. This is a total rip off. It doesn't work well. It's convenient that it does the one thing a person would do first but nothing else. Wish I had my money back. Pay for quality people!
