Yes, but it depends on how much liquid and how fast you try to clean up the spill.

how big/high is topper?

I’d say between 3 and 4 inches. So far we are very pleased with it, our mattress feels more comfortable. The topper has not flattened out so far and the bottom fitted sheet keeps it in place well. The straps at the corners do not work on our mattress.

How many inches do the 4 straps fit down over mattress? i.e. How many inches are the pocket straps?

Not sure but they stretch/are elastic, but don’t stay on ,in my experience. We just lay it on the mattress and put a fitted sheet over it- very plush and comfy so far…only have had it for a couple wks.
