Wow
I am a hard fit. Very wide 11.5 4e. Normally I have to purchase wide 12's. This show was available in a wide width at 11.5 (half size). This allowed me to purchase a shoe that really fit my fit. Not to snug and not too loose. For those of you with wide feet you know all to well the problem we face in purchasing shoes that are too big. This is especially true for a trail/hiking/walking shoe. The trails I purchased this shoe for can be pretty steep and at times have plenty of toe tripping roots and rocks. So a well fitting shoe is needed.I was very worried about purchasing a shoe on-line. But with my need for a wide trail shoe I risked it.There is no way that I could be happier. They fit perfect. The grab the trail well. And they are very well constructed. They are worth every penny I paid.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOE. My absolute highest rating. If you need a wide trail shoe buy this first.

Update 3 years later. Long lasting and comfortable. Not waterproof!
After three years of constant use (daily wear, not trail running) this shoe has held up very well. The sole has worn down (expected) but the upper is still excellent without cracks or splits. I would buy this shoe again for daily wear. Not waterproof! The information on the shoe states: Waterproof seam-sealed membrane bootie. I just went for a short hike after a rain. Just a walk through short grass. My toes are soaked. This was not a case of water overflowing, just wet grass. Also the tread is aggressive and works well on rough surfaces. You will slip on anything smooth and wet.On the plus side, the shoe is comfortable for short walks. Not sure how it would hold up on a long trek. The fit is good. I ordered a wide.

Hooray, a truly wide shoe
Finding a wide shoe is a joy. In the past I've had to buy a half size larger in order to get a wide enough fit. This Columbia shoe is wonderfully comfortable. The shoe is firm and sturdy but did not require a break in period. I was able to wear them all day from the first day. Additionally, the shoes are light weight.

Wide is not wide
Ordered wide and there is no way that's what I got. Either that or their wide is comparable to a standard width from everyone else's standpoint. 2 stars for a good price and quality material. I thought I just needed to break them in but after several weeks my feet can't take it. Very disappointing as I thought it was a pretty good deal on a name brand.

Good show but the toe is narrow.
Be aware than this show has different toe design. I ordered this shoe 1 size bigger than my shoe size. I you do hikes longer than 10 miles your toe might start touching the show top. Shoe is very comfortable on the trails. I will order a bigger size.

Swapped out my merrills for these
So, right off the bat; pulled them out of the box and they fit perfectly! I wear a 11.5W, normally have to get 12w in most shoes to fit the toe box. Seems like most shoes that are wide are wide in the middle, but not at the toes. These came out of the box like they were already broken in. Lightweight, breathable. Nice shade of brown with a little bit of green undertone. I normally wear Merrill Moabs in wide. My last set of Merrills lasted almost 5 years, but I don't do a lot of hiking. I've had these about 3 weeks. These shoes are lighter, and I don't think they will last as long. But they get high marks for comfort, style and fit. If they only last half as long, I'd still buy another pair.

But it fits good and looks like the quality Columbia shoes I have ...
The waterproof aspect is shot down by the fact that the tongue is not gusseted. Any water that is above the bottom of the tongue will get your feet wet. But it fits good and looks like the quality Columbia shoes I have been wearing for years.

Decent hiking shoe
These are comfortable for walking over flat or slightly uneven ground and provide good arch support. The shoestrings are too long and stretch easily. It would be better if the shoe came with elastic lacings vs shoestrings.
