For this phone to reduce radiation it needs to have a shielded wire connection that runs up to the head piece.  Is this a shielded wire?

Donna Marie, the reduction in cell phone radiation is _never_ achieved by connecting the handheld headset to the cell phone via a shielded cable.  Cell phone headset jacks, themselves, have no provision for a shield wire connection.    The vendor's claim, "Reduces cell phone radiation", is achieved because, by using the handheld headset against one's ear the user is keeping the cell phone -- with its multiple, built-in radio receivers & transmitters _away_ from the user's ear/head/brain.    If you are using this, or a similar handheld headset, rather than holding a cell phone against your ear, you are _greatly_ reducing the amount EMF radiation which might be affecting your brain. In fact, any _wired_ headset will greatly reduce brain exposure to cell phone related EMF radiation.

It has excellent sound quality. Both sending and receiving. Had several comments from friends about being much clearer on their end.

Does the middle button act as mute or answer/end?

Top button - acts as answer / end.Middle button - says "audio switch" and is for different phone compatibility.  A sticker (removable) says: "Please toggle the Audio Switch if the handset doesn't work with your cell phone". Bottom button - is volume.  3 positions for three levels of volume.If you want to mute your call, you will have to use controls on your device.  Although with a handset it is easy to mute by holding it with palm over the microphone (like in the old days)In my testing, the 3 buttons work, and the speaker and microphone work fine for calls.I also like that it DOES NOT have a rubberized coating.  It is shiny plastic like the original rotary phones. :-)
