Triple CD set. Belinda Carlisle has one of the most successful pop careers selling over eight million records worldwide, including more than three million in the UK alone. This Gold title features a comprehensive overview of Belinda's solo career during the '80s and '90s. The collection boasts a remarkable 15 Top 40 UK singles including #1 hit 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth', 'Circle In The Sand', 'Leave A Light On', 'Summer Rain', 'La Luna' 'Live Your Life Be Free'. Features 56 tracks plus a new recording of Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now'. Review: This is the collection you want and you probably don't know why - "Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?..." Anyone who has owned a radio in the past 35 years can finish singing that line, and I'll bet you did in your head. Belinda Carlisle was all over the place in the mid 80s with "Heaven Is A Place On Earth," and the equally anthemic "Mad About You". I never really liked Carlisle's root band, the Go-Go's, but there is something addictive about her solo work - excellent 80s pop candy. (On a side note, fellow Go-Go's alum Jane Wiedlin had some excellent solo material, but not quite as good as Carlisle's). Most casual fans looking for the two previously mentioned songs (and maybe "I Get Weak" and "Circle In The Sand") will find more than they expected with this collection. These thoughts are aimed at those who may not have had much more exposure to Carlisle than those hits and are looking for a greatest hits collection after maybe having their memory recently jogged. Three discs seems like overkill for a greatest hits compendium from an artist who never reached the level of someone like, say, Elton John. However, the "kitchen sink" (so to speak) approach here is what makes this collection worthwhile. In 1989, Belinda Carlisle released one of the best mainstream pop albums of that decade with Runaway Horses. This was the album that represented what Carlisle was truly capable of - the album where she matured past pop princess. And people completely slept on it. Runaway Horses never reached the stratospheric height of her previous album (Heaven On Earth), which became her legacy, yet Runaway Horses is every bit as good - if not better - as her previous two solo albums. Strike that: it's better. It's exceptional. Luckily, the best material from Runaway Horses appears in this compilation. This package gives you her familiar hits, but someone who never followed her past 1987 will find some special songs they likely have never heard. The handful of standout tracks from Runaway Horses in this compilation: - Runaway Horses, the soaring title track that you will eventually learn the lyrics to and sing along with in the car - Leave A Light On, a highly melodic throwback to her earlier work - (We Want) The Same Thing, a thumping, rollicking arena rocker - an interesting change of pace - Summer Rain, a song featuring an eerie, low key, snaking synth foundation, which blooms into explosive fireworks of melodic passion - this track alone is worth the price of admission You'll come for "Heaven Is A Place On Earth," but you'll stay for those four gems. The collection sounds excellent. I am unsure of any remastering work done on the tracks, as the liner notes are limited to standard songwriting credits. The packaging is a flimsy gatefold case, which has unfortunately become common, but considering the shockingly low price of the set, I can excuse the packaging. The songs each sounded at least a notch above what I experienced on the original CD pressings of the albums, so I suspect some degree of brushing up of the masters was done. As an example, "(We Want) The Same Thing" thundered through my sound system with punching authority, while the rhythmic stereo effects of "Summer Rain" were strong, enveloping the listening space. This might be an overkill compilation for someone seeking just a couple of hit songs, but the size of the compilation allows for the inclusion of 80s pop masterworks that would have never made it onto a single disc 10-song collection. The price is more than reasonable, especially since it's about the same as a single disc. Go for the Gold. It might be more than you're looking for, but it is everything you're looking for from an 80s pop icon - even if you don't know it yet. Review: Fantastic Compilation From All Belinda's Albums - The track selection on this 3 cd set is fantastic. It covers singles and album tracks from 1986's 'Belinda' all the way to the current 'Wilder Shores' and some digital and stand alone songs such as her beautiful version of Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now' and a touching, melancholic version of the Creedence classic 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain?'. The downside is the packaging which is very bare bones. Only one (beautiful picture, no booklet or liner notes, but I'm sure that helped keep the compilation at such a great price. This is a great jumping on board set for newer Belinda fans or casual listeners who want to catch up. Start with this then try to work your way to the recent, excellent Edsul Deluxe Reissues of her albums and the Singles Box. Belinda can sing everything from California 60's style pop to French standards to dance music to post punk, guitar, anthems. A great set and a great artist.

Great Collection, With A Bonus
I bought this as a compendium of all her best songs, but I was floored to hear "(We Want) the Same Thing" at the start of disc 2. Apparently this is the single version, which is much punchier than the album version. That alone made this purchase worthwhile to me.

~ "Belinda Carlisle: GOLD" 3 CD career spanning set is great, but could be better, overall ~
Everyone knows who Belinda Carlisle is and has done for the music industry. She is a gifted talent being in the music business for about 40 years, if you count the time before her debut in THE GO-GO's, 1981. I would say this, if you don't own her solo "deluxe" albums from 1986 - 1997, this set would be a good chance to get many of her songs put together in a 3 CD set for the first time. ~ CD 1: 19 Songs ~ CD 2: 18 Songs ~ CD 3: 19 Songs The mastering and sound is superb. Every song is listed on each CD in the gatefold package. The CDs are housed individually and are clearly listed. The only drawback to this particular 3 CD set is that there is NO Liner notes of any kind, very skimpy on the photos for a "career" compilation. There is 2 photos of Belinda, front cover and back cover. Looks like from her1989 - 1990 era where she was sporting a gorgeous reddish hairstyle. Find a good deal on this and I think you will like it quite a bit. Keep singing, Belinda and thank you for all those great songs over the years!! Xx

Wonderful 3-disc collection!
Great Belinda Carlisle collection; all her hits plus many songs I'd never heard before until now. All three discs worked/played perfectly. The case is fold out cardboard, not plastic. Excellent buy if you love Belinda's work!

I'm such a HUGE Belinda Carlisle fan! I was upset when I found out that this stuff was not gonna be released in the USA. But then happy when I saw Amazon had the entire collection including the 30th Anniversary box set of Runaway Horses. This Gold collection is an outstanding addition to my BC collection! Keep up the awesome work BC!! We all LOVE ya!

All of Belinda's Hits and More
I bought this for "Summer Rain" which I find intoxicating but have discovered many other songs that I really like! Excellent production values and all the songs sound great.

Well it's a no frills , bang for your buck comp. So you get the same photo of Belinda smiling at you twice. The packaging is a fold out cardboard sleeve. Which means I'll have to use my standby plastic sleeves. Worth it as you do get her two most popular albums in their entirely. Songs from Heaven On Earth and Runaway Horses are scattered all over the first two CDs. However one or two tracks differ from the album versions. Eg we want the same thing is here in the single mix. Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! As with any hits pack, it comes with tracks that are more obscure. Like the two that sound like religious chants - Adi Shakti and Brahmi Hum. Disc 1 - her best known songs Disc 2 mostly well known with some obscure ones. Disc 3 - for me stuff I have not heard before. Her cover of Both Sides Now is ok. Great sound quality. I believe Gold is her most recent and most extensive collection.

Meravigliosa raccolta. Quando la musica era bella. Consigliatissimo. Grandissima Belinda con la tua meravigliosa voce. Compratelo se come me siete degli anni 73 o giù di lì.

From her remarkable punk roots, the glorious pop years, to a French language, and a chanting album, Belinda Carlisle has certainly come a long way. Pop may be frivolous and fleeting, but BC is acknowledged as an iconic popstress (though an underrated one, it must be noted). This new collection is definitely her most comprehensive to date, covering the entire spectrum of her solo discography. With no less than 56 tracks (!) in total, and at £5 only, it is hands down a bargain! What a shame that the 3-disc edition of this is disappointing packaging-wise. It is a 3-panel glossy soft digipack, with no booklet at all, and only 1 photo across it (one of her most stunning, I mean, look at her!). The 2LP gold coloured vinyl is better, although only 20 tracks appear in that. Both discs come in one sleeve. Still, it is a lovely edition, great looking and sounding, with a more generous tracklist than 2017's "The collection" LP. In anticipation of the 30th anniversary "Runaway horses" box set out this week, "Gold" is essential buy for anyone who likes to enjoy all the hits and plenty of lesser known tracks. Me, I will be forever in love with this flame-haired beauty with the razor sharp cheekbones.
