Great amp / fantastic buy / tons of features
Arrived surprising fast on Wednesday (in Hawaii) after ordering it on Sunday. Gigged with it on Saturday at a small venue with the rock band, Luna Overdrive. Fantastic. Super light, great control, plenty of power for the smallish venue with my "tiny" Ampeg 2x10 bottom. I like the integrated graphic EQ. Did not use the foot switch, but plan to at a future gig, when I need to switch on distortion. This amp will probably eliminate the need for me to have a separate effects pedal. Can stomp on distortion and/or lower frequency harmonics (I think it also adds a higher 3rd when you play higher - and seems to have a slight bit of delay 200 ms? on the ultrabass feature). You can also use left stomp switch as a mute function (set channel 1 gain to zero). I used the line out to combine with my in-ear monitor. That worked great too. This was a fantastic buy. In a few weeks, I will probably buy another one as a backup. Minor quibble/suggestion - I would prefer the low frequency feature (ultra-bass feature) to be just that - only add an octave below. Follow-up... at the second gig, it failed when I powered it up. I am returning it and will likely order another.... I am leaving the rating at 5 stars, for now, if the second one fails within 2 weeks, then...

Affordable and Professional!
Love this Amp! Easy to set up and loud! I push 2 cabs, a 2x10 Cab and a 1x15 Cab. Great Tone! Bought this as a replacement in f the exact same but older head, has upgraded features of the older version and XLR/Line direct outs.

High on features, low on power
First of all, let me say that the service by Amazon was incredible. I ordered the amp, and it was here within 48 hours, with no shipping charge. Can't beat that! As for the amp itself, it is an incredible buy. There is nothing on the market that can touch it in terms of features and price. It works well, sounds good, has lots of tone-modifying features, a clean and a dirty channel, and even an octave synthesizer. It is actually similar in features and look to their now-obsolete 180 amp model, but much lighter in weight. It is a joy to carry around. All that said, however, I think the 300-watt rating is exaggerated. That is a problem with PA amps, and has actually always been a problem with amps in general, that power output is exaggerated. That silliness has reached its peak now with PA amps being rated at thousands of watts when they probably don't put out much over 100 watts RMS. Behringer does not say 300 of what kind of watts, so it is probably not RMS; more likely some ethereal "peak power" or some other nonsense. The power seems very similar to the old 180 watt amp I mentioned above. We have a country band, so not some ear-splitting metal group, and I operate this amp at full bore - maximum output, and it is barely loud enough at rehearsal. I could never gig with it. My little G-K 2-pound 200-watt amp is louder. However, the Behringer has more features, and costs only half what the G-K did. So, bottom line is that the Behringer is a great little amp with lots of features normally found on only much more expensive heads, lightweight, and very convenient. For small venues or jazz groups or acoustic or similar type gigs it would probably suffice. However, for most bands more power will be required, and I would suggest moving up to the Behringer 450 watt unit, which probably is more realistically rated (I have one of those, too). It is actually only another $100, although it weighs a ton. I have to add a sad note to this review. The amp performed very well, albeit was not nearly as loud as it should have been for its rated power, for exactly two rehearsals. At the end of the second rehearsal it suddenly stopped working, and we smelled a burning electric smell. Turned out it not only self-destructed but it also burned out the voice coil in my speaker cabinet. You can draw whatever conclusions you may like about the amp; this is the only bad experience I have had with Behringer, and perhaps this was just a lemon. I did not give them another chance, however, and Amazon was super in the way they refunded my money immediately. One thing you learn if you play professionally or semi-professionally is that you never go to a gig without backup equipment. The old saying that anything that can go wrong, will, is often the case. So no matter what amp you choose to buy, make sure you have a backup plan, even if that means using the PA.

great sounding, lightweight
Pros: great sounding, lightweight, versatile amp great clean or slap sound. at lower volumes also great finger funk rear pickup sound. has a setting for uprights. It also can dial in that sharp sound good for rock music! It's really versatile, and sounds really nice! You can dial in a whole range of good sounding tones! Cons: - Not enough power for live play - rather big (wide), I had hoped they could shave off 1/3rd the width if possible. - buzz through tweeter. Though it sounds remarkably well, it creates a buzz on the tweeter that makes it not good for solo play (buzz is annoying) or studio. - the digital power amplifier suffers from the same thing as most others do. They give good low end, and good brights, but can easily be over driven by mid frequencies (200-800Hz). This makes this amp only good for small rehearsals, or acoustic gigs, not the normal to loud volume gigs, unless you have a very efficient cab (like a 4 ohms, 100+ dB SPL, like a 2x12" or 8x10"). *Edit: My unit failed after rehearsing 2 hours on it (divided over 2 days). It just pops, and shuts down now when I try to boot it up... I think I just got a failing unit, so one star off for that, and I'll be sending the unit back, and get a new one in return. Also, the amp only has one jack output. I had hoped it would come with at least 2 output plugs. Edit2: My second amp is running well. Driving an Eden CX110 or CX112 cab. A great sound when paired with a Fender Modern Dimension bass! Great punchy sound, been running for several months now bi-weekly for a good 10 hours a week. Edit2: I've noticed that this cab is more like an 80Watt, than a 200Watt amplifier. It also pulls 80Watts out of the wall. Behringer should be more forthcoming on these things. It has slightly higher peaks, but long sustained notes will lower the volume on this amp under max volume, to the same volume of an 80Watt amp. Behringer should be more forthcoming on their watt rating, and adopt the universal RMS rating instead! 2 stars off of that!

Pros: excellent quality pre-amp, good EQ / Compression, plenty power for small to medium size gigs, useful headphone practice features, helpful channel footswitch included, very light, low-cost - may buy second as backup / dual-amping my twin cab for slightly larger gigs. Cons (negligible): a couple of LEDs on Graphic EQ sliders are intermittent but the sliders also show the profile set, don't need the UltraBass sub-octaver, prefer the natural sound from the active dual-mic in the bass bridge

Consiglio vivamente
