Tongue drum percussion mallets
Purchased a Hopwell Steel Tongue drum for my wife as a Christmas present and it came with a pair of percussion mallets. But unfortunately my step-sons dog was visiting and he found the originals and chewed them into toothpick sized pieces. I searched for replacements and these mallets were even better then the originals. I little bit heavier and with a slightly harder ball, which to me made for a much better sound. The length was good, they are well built and should last a good long time. Purchase was easy and delivery was fast and as expected. Assembled in the good old US of A which is always a plus. Great seller, would buy from again.

Great Mallets, Great Price. MADE IN USA! - BUY THESE!
I was in the market for some cheap mallets for my percussion students to use without breaking the bank. After a quick search i discovered a few options for hard plastic and rubber and got all four to test out. These are the models i got to compare. Timber Drum Co - T2HP (Hard Plastic) Timber Drum Co - TMD2 (Rubber) Shappy "Bell Mallets" (Rubber) Fanrel "Glockenspiel Mallets" (Plastic?) Right off the bat i noticed a ton of differences. The Shappy and Fanrel Mallets came from China. That right there should tell you the quality isn't going to be as good as even their pictures online looked like the were copying the American made mallets. The Chinese ones came in cheap plastic bags (one wasn't even sealed). The Timber Drum Co mallets are Made in the USA and arrived in a sturdy protective tube (see photos). The differences between the mallets where even more noticeable. Both the Shappy and Fanrel had unfinished wood handles and oversized mallet heads that were too big for the instruments my students play on. Nice try guys ;-). The mallet head quality was really rough (see Photos). The Shappy "rubber" mallets were basically plastic mallets and too hard for the instruments i would use rubber mallets on. The Timber Drum Co Mallets were obviously the higher quality option. Both the hard plastic and rubber options had finished wood handles that were the perfect size for a comfortable grip. Each mallet head was the perfect size and sound that i was looking for. This made sense when i realized the Timber Drum Co mallets were made in the USA. The Shappy/Fanrel were both made in China (according to the plastic bag they came in) and seems like they were just trying to make something that looked like a mallet to sell. Basically, the Timber Drum Co mallets are the best low cost option for mallets on Amazon. I will be recommending them to all my students from now on. *******U P D A T E***************** I purchased these mallets and wrote a review back in 2019. I actually liked them so much that i decided to get a few sets more for my students in 2020. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the company made the mallets even better! Dowel quality is improved with smooth rounded ends. They seem even more sturdy an even have a cool logo now. I can't say this enough, Timber Drum Co makes the best "low cost" mallet on Amazon. All these changes and the price is still $9.99. Crazy! I also added a few more photos to show the new changes.

AMAZING quality!
Wow!!! I am so impressed with the quality of these mallets! HIGHLY recommend! I ordered two different brands since i didn't know exactly what I needed for my drum. These arrived first and the moment I held them in my hand I could tell how beautifully crafted they were. This may be a little cheesey but--there is a scene in the first Harry Potter movie where he finally finds his right wand --- and all of a sudden magick happens all around him? Holding these made me think of that scene! These are sturdy but the mallets are gentle enough for a handpan drum. Helps produce a beautiful sound. Then the mallets from the different brand arrived 2 weeks later and it proved to be just how incredible THESE mallets really are because the other brand felt cheap and flimsy. No Harry Potter magic whatsoever! If you are looking for mallets, these are definitely the ones to get!

Solid purchase
These mallets worked great for my handpan. Exactly what I was looking for and at a great price. The only flaw was that they left a light layer of white powder on the handpan where ever the mallet hits.

Quality 100%
The real deal. Beautiful quality wood. Appear solid and durable. Felt is beautifully wrapped. Nice solid sound. If you made a staccato version I’d buy that too!

A good small-shop product.
Haven't yet had the occasion to use these, but based on the feel of them, they will generally be good for their advertised usage. As timpani mallets go, these are on the light side, so I might not choose them for playing late Classic or Romantic pieces. Due to the firm felt head, and lighter weight, they should prove to be good for Baroque and early Classic literature. For general tom and cymbal use, they should be fine. It would be interesting to see if the small shop could try making timpani mallets with shafts of denser/heavier woods, like hickory or oak, and offer different mallet heads from wood through a range of felt hardnesses. All in all, theses mallets are worth what the shop charges, and best of all, they're made in the USA.

Love These Mallets
I was looking for a good quality mallet that was well made and longer than what I have. These are perfect for my tongue drums and they create a really nice sound. The rubber is nice and the wooden handles are smooth and pretty. I love that they are made in the U.S. by a small company in Nashville, Tennessee. Even the insert in the package they came in is nice and it’s obvious that this company cares. I’m happy to support a small business like this. I appreciate good workmanship.

Bought this for my husband (the drummer) and he really likes the sound they produce. Will buy again IF he breaks them.

Great quality wood, just firm and soft enough to get a soft yet pronounced tone

heads not at all suitable for glocks. well turned-out product however. the sticks were used with sliced hockey-puck (1.25 cm) cut out with 1 1/4 inch hole saw to make a first-class pair of mallets.
