This is a wonderful cup. It is light as a feather, yet you are able to microwave it. It holds more than 10 ounces, and so you have a really delightful number of sips. We purchased a pair of these microwave safe mugs for my mother who struggles with parkinsonism, and she simply loves them. Being that she can only bear so much weight in her hand, this small, lightweight cup gives her the freedom to enjoy her coffee each day without much fear of it slipping, dropping, and/or breaking. So far it has held up to a few, let's say... "unintentional" crash tests, mostly at the hands of our toddler. My mom said that these cups keep the beverage temperature even, and that while small, they're "just her size". The opening for the handle measures ~2.25" x ~0.75". For scale, I've included a photo of the mug with a quarter resting on it below. We've washed these mugs both by hand and in the dishwasher, and in both cases they came clean quickly, without staining, and haven't lost any of their color (which is maybe a little less vibrant than the picture shows, but only just). If you're interested, these mugs are available in brown and white as well. Altogether, we're thrilled with this purchase, as these mugs have given my mom a modicum of her independence back. I highly recommend these for anyone who struggles with dexterity/strength issues, but I also think that they're great for kids, hikers, and able-bodied adults alike! After a recent camping trip where no one brought mugs (FYI: hot cocoa in plastic dixie cups doesn't work so well) I decided it was time for some good camping mugs. I had bought this one and a few others, in addition to all of them in the camping box and developed the Great Mug Challenge, surveying my wife and girls on 12 different mugs. They ranked hold ability, likely to spill, feel and comfort when drinking, handle and holding temp when holding hot drinks, and so on. Overall, this mug wasn't bad. It just didn't have anything that impressed them. The closest name brand competitor (and overall winner) was the GSI Infinity Mug (non-insulated.) This mug is smaller and the handle is less ergonomic and was compared to a child's cup.. They might have been bias of the color differences too. I'd say for the price between the two, the results make sense. Its a good mug, just not spectacular.

Cheap plastic cup. Much smaller than I expected. Although it does technically hold 12 oz if you fill to top edge. Did not cost much. This is a textbook case of you get what you pay for. No bargain here. I have bought better cups at the dollar store.
