I am not able to measure the brine tank but the plate we need to replace is 16 1/4" in diameter. Do you think your replacement plate would fit?

This grid plate is made for the "standard" 18" diameter tank. I think if you tried to cut-it-down, you'd reduce the rigidity of the plate itself. There are rectangular brine tanks (11x11, or 15x17"), but this would NOT fit those either. My tank is 18" diameter but it chokes to 17" at the top opening. Is the plate flexible enough to force through the opening?

It is a stiff/tough plastic, but you might be able to flex it enough to overcome the 1" difference. You'd flex it "side-ways" then rotate it to fit the diameter of the brine tank. Since mine is in my brine tank currently, with salt covering it, I can't really take it out and check it for flexibility.

My 18 in. Brine plate seems to have a 3 and a half in hole, not a 4. Are they just calling it a 4 but it really isn’t?

The brine plate that I was replacing was part of a Kinetico water softener brine tank. The replacement was done a while back and can't remember if the hole was 3 1/2" or 4", but it was the correct plate for my system.
