SEAFLO 03-Series Heavy Duty Bilge Pump Float Switch for 12V, 24V, 32V

Works like a champ. Prior to this one, I've had two other different brands of bilge switches quickly fail after only a month. This one has been going for over four months with no issues. That is very appreciated given I have a deep bilge and it is a PITA to pull the pump/switch assembly out for repair/replacement.

It’s a flapper. Low profile. Works good.

Works better and more reliably than a similar Rule switch which failed after a few days.

Very sturdy plastic construction with clear installation instructions. The float and the base come apart to make installation of the base on a weighted or stable surface much easier. This was one of the less expensive options I was able to find, but it has worked flawlessly and held up to a harsh outdoor environment with no problems. I don't use it as a bilge pump, I use it in my garden to stop the fountain pumps if the water runs low and it does that job perfectly.

UPDATE: The storms came and the switch got stuck in the off position! It didn't seem to have any dirt stuck in the mechanism. I'm lowering to one star. I am using the other type of float switch that has a ball that rolls back and forth. The compliant with this one is that the wires move with the float and the wires could fatigue. But have them in the other pump for over a year. I am using this in a crawl space. While I took care minimize dirt in the water there will always be some. It sticks mostly in the on position, I would like to blame it on dirt but I don't see any. I move the float up and down a couple of time and it works for a while. I have remounted such that the base of the float switch it higher than the pump inlet, thus drawing the water such that the float switch can attain the lowest position. I also added small weight on the end...but that might have the negative affect of sticking in the off position...much worse. Next series of storms starts Feb 16, 2017. I'll report back if the remounting made a difference.

Installed it in our aluminum bass boat and it is quite a nice thing to have for fishing trips. No longer do we need to down to the dock in the rain to manually turn on the bilge pump. Easy to install. Wired it to a 3 way toggle switch: On/Off/Auto

I forgot to pull the drain plug, turned off power and after a rain storm the bilge had 15" of water in it, the switch was standing up vertically and not working when power went back on. it float part seemed to slip around the switch shaft after a further inspection.....repair was done , but need for new replacement was more important than the $

Original RULE switch (fairly new) would occasionally not "start" unless given some wave action, and needed a larger swing area under engine block. Heavy rain and calm marina was a recipe for disaster. After checking on boat and finding it didn't engage (starter almost under water on new 5L merc.) I installed this this one. 3 days of rain and every day I check it, it has done it's job more efficiently than RULE brand. Cheeper than a $25K engine replacement.
