The Five Dharma Types: Vedic Wisdom for Discovering Your Purpose and Destiny Review: Tremendously insightful! - Simon is great, this is one of the best books I've read in the last few years. The ideas really gave me a depth of insight into myself and how to better be in harmony with my dharma type, therefore achieving better results in life. Some of the ideas resonated deeply, to the point that I shifted my perspective on some things which resulted in changing certain behaviors. It has also shed light on interpersonal relationships by showing how the different dharma types interact. For me personally, the ideas in this book were pretty profound and I’d highly recommend it! Review: Elysian Writing - “Elysian Writing” Being interested in the ancient text and wisdom and having studied variety of such texts, can certainly say it’s a brilliant work specially when it comes to collecting, analyzing and synthesizing ancient wisdom from different parts of the world along with authors own work and successfully fitting it in less than 400 pages. This piece of work has been done with complete meraki! Everyone can certainly find something for themselves and feel trouville. And if you are looking for sophrosyne, It’s must read, your future self shall thank you. सत्-चित्-आनन्द (Truth-Consciousness- Bliss).

Amazing correlations of different disciplines!
This book has done an amazing job of correlating your 'dharma' type to the 4 ages, life cycles, your physical and mental composition, health and diet recommendations based on your dharma type, as well as supportive activities and life cycles. A comprehensive analysis that ties diverse disciplines together. A very good and insightful read! Everyone can find something useful in it.

I don't like it....
I expected the book to have vedic astrological reasonings for everything like what in your chart will make you a warrior, outsider, etc, but none of that. The book is written for people without vedic knowledge. Not one chart in the whole book. I like Simon's YouTube videos, but I just didn't like this book, sorry. I wish I could return it but I bought it on Kindle and probably can't. I was going to buy his other books, but if they're like this one, I guess there's no point. I feel bad giving a bad rating so I won't.

Simon has put together a detailed book about finding your purpose. If you are serious about finding your purpose, start with this book. It takes time to digest this book but hang in there. I wish you the best of luck.

A great read to help you remember who you are
I have been studying yoga, Ayurveda and Jyotish for a long while now and I earlier this year I saw an interview with Simon on the KRS channel. Simon draws a person into gathering wisdom for themselves, your mind starts to churn with curiosity and wonderment and down the rabbit hole you go. Simon's writing style is like this was as well, you are drawn into the story of your life, feeling like you are "seen" even though you are only reading his book. This is a must have book for anyone seeking a modern spin to an ancient system.

A good reference work to have in hard copy
Enjoyable, insightful and most useful for daily life. A good reference work to have in hard copy. I have been a student of Vedic thought for over twenty years and was surprised at how much I learned.

The book describes 5 types of people in society - Educators, Warriors, Merchants, Labourers and Outsiders. It has a nice test in the beginning to understand what type you belong to and also gives names of famous people belonging to each type. The book then describes in detail the qualities of each type - health, physique, likes/dislikes, career etc. Furthermore, in the the second half of the book, the author writes that these types can be found everywhere in our society - in movies, music, food, places etc. The book is long but covers lot of topics and it doesn't get boring. Not only that, it also helps you understand how people in the society operate. If you have read Simon Sinek's 'Start with Why', this book is about Why do people behave in a certain manner. Hindu religion has 4 Varnas from ancient times but the Varna system has been highly criticized after 1900s. I am an avid reader of Hindu scriptures and hence could relate this book to our ancient Hindu wisdom. It presents ancient knowledge in a modern way to help you understand your nature (Swabhaava) and to follow your purpose (Swadharma). I would highly recommend this book to someone who wants to find his life's purpose and who want to understand more about him/her self.
