Note: in order to use This and any other induction cooktop, you need to have the right kind of cookware. The energy produced by the Duxtop is directly supplied to the cooking vessel by a magnetic field. Duxtop detects the size of the cookware base and automatically adjust so that very little energy is wasted. Duxtop induction cooktop is fast and safe to use, easy to clean. We lowered it to 5, and it was still painful. There was no time to get another one, so we went ahead with the party. When we put the pot with the broth on it, we tried power 5, and it was silent. We increased to 10, and it was almost silent. So it must not like some pots! After it boiled, we set it to temperature 230, and it stayed there for hours. We're keeping it, and looking forward towards many more hot pot evenings. When I'm out shopping for stainless steel cookware for this product, I carry a small magnet in my pocket -- if the magnet sticks to the cookware, the cookware will work on the induction stove top. Powerful, fast, easy. Better than gas.
This induction cooktop works faster than my gas stovetop. It's easier than my microwave, because I can add ingredients while the pot is heating. And it's easier to wipe clean than either the stovetop or microwave. Just start on a low setting until you get used to its power. And don't walk away from the cooktop. It's that fast. For anyone concerned about climate change, this is definitely better than using gas. I also appreciate that it's portable, so I saved the box.

Cuts off randomly
It works great for most cooking but i got it for making hard candy with requires precise temperatures and it keeps shutting off right at the crucial part of the candy making. Sometimes it will start up again after resetting it but often i just have to trow a whole batch of candy away because this thing decided to shut down in the middle of it.

Excellent cooktop for small kitchen
Items heat up and cook faster than on a gas range. The other nice feature is that the induction cooktop does not get too hot even after some extended use. There is less risk of damaging a veneer type countertop when using the cooktop. The cooktop is lightweight so is ideal for traveling if going to a place were there is no access to a kitchen as long as you have access to electricity.

Screech Machine
The induction mechanism sounds like a smoke alarm. Listen to the video. Maybe I got a bad unit (I am the first reviewer) because nobody could stand that noise. This will be returned.

works great!
I love this cooktop.I do not have a full set of induction ready pans,but all I had to do was buy a diffuser plate to place under non-inductive cookware.it heats fast & is hopefully saving me some money on electricity because it is more efficient.only time will tell on that.But it is well worth the money for an extra burner.my only regret is that I did not buy the double cooktop.

take time to read instructions.
the unit needs rubber like stops on the feet so it will not slip on a hard surface. the cord is long and hard to manage. a plug-in cord instead of a hardwired one would be more efficient in tight spaces.
