Zappers with a grid small enough to kill fungus gnats or thrips are hard to find. Fungus gnats are particularly exasperating for gardeners because they reproduce very rapidly and are persistent. Zappers meant for mosquitos often do not touch them. This model has a small grid and works really well. The extra bulb is nice. The bulbs do not last long, which is why they provided a spare. I experimented with ordering some standard fluorescents of the same size, which are readily available on Amazon for about $7 and should last a long time. The standard flourescents have normal white flourescent light. To my surprise the lights attract the same number of flying insects regardless. I would not have expected that. That's important because it means the lights can be replaced at a low cost with long-lasting substitutes, plus the blue light effect is optional; you can use a standard fluorescent as a nightlight for example.

I was concerned that the light was not like my other bug zapper, but it sure works! Lots of dead mosquitos, the way I like it!

This thing is amazing. I have a TERRIBLE mosquito problem at my complex. I received this Tuesday. I should have had it Sunday but UPS sucks. Anyways I put this on my patio, within minutes I was no longer being eaten alive by them. I would sit out back for 5-10 min and come in itchy with 10-15 bites. Now I can go out and I don’t get bit at all. It’s not very loud like some of the other reviews said. It only pops loudly when a big bug gets in there. Normal mosquitos don’t make any noise. I wouldn’t leave this out where it can get wet but if it’s for indoor or covered porch, you’re good!The only downfall is the packaging. The give you an extra light bulb with it and the box it doesn’t have any thing to hold the bulb securely. The bulb is wrapped in a thin pad, but when I took it out of the box I heard the bulb make noise. I changed the bulb just to see if it was broken and it wouldn’t turn on. The way UPS handles packages, mixed with the way it was packed it was bound to be broken.I haven’t had this product long so I’ll update this review if the zapper/ my one bulb doesn’t last long.BTW in the video I posted, it was killing mosquitos. I just wanted to show how quite it was!

Didn’t work and spare bulb change didn’t fix it. Changing the bulb requires taking off two screws, whole thing seemed pretty shoddy, will spend the money on one that seems like it is made from better components. Wiring seemed off, exposed wires where the should not have been and that’s just from taking the bulb changing part off, plastic looked melted.

As I suspected when I arrived, the zapper zone is only for big bugs. I have several bug zappers similar to this one, but the difference is how the actual electric net is way too separated from each other, which is the only explanation I can think of for the issue. It might work on big bugs, but for mosquitoes is useless.

I live in the tropics. In puerto rico. Bugs and flies are everywhere. I plug this in in the kitchen and turn off the lights or in any room I am in and it clears out all the Flies big small, gnats, moths and yes even mosquitos. I changed the light after about 6 mos opened the bottom container and it was super gross tons of dead flies in addition to the ones fried in place on the coils. Probably 20k of them. It does its job well. Buy it. And get some replacement lights while your at it for peace of mind later.

Got this because it’s that time of year and the blood suckers are out on the hunt. So far Ive seen many little bats but could also be mosquitos in there. Have not used outside I actually used it near my bathroom since I get attacked when out of the shower is what I noticed. Seems to work fine for me. Has. Nice purple bean to it oh and good thing Is comes with a spare bulb. Cool thing is it has a turn tray to empty out dead bugs. Pretty excited to keep using this.

Very poor qulity plastic come aldready broke cant change the light why comme with extra light if i cant change it? Is a totally garbage and is it made with the best garbage plastic cheap.
