Simple, Reliable, and Delivers True Gigabit Speeds
I purchased this NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (GS308) to replace a failing network switch in my home setup, and it has been a huge upgrade. Setup was incredibly easy—it’s completely plug-and-play. I connected it to my router, plugged in my devices, and everything worked instantly without any configuration. This is perfect if you want something simple that just works right out of the box. Performance has been outstanding. All of my devices, including my PC and streaming equipment, run smoothly with stable connections. I also ran a speed test and included a screenshot showing that I’m getting full gigabit speeds, which confirms this switch is performing exactly as expected. That kind of real-world performance is important, especially for large file transfers, gaming, or high-quality streaming. The build quality is another plus. The metal housing feels solid and durable, and the unit runs completely silent—no fan noise at all—so it fits perfectly in a home office or living space. Reliability has been excellent so far. Compared to my previous switch that was starting to fail, this has been completely stable with no drops or interruptions. It’s one of those “set it and forget it” devices. Pros: Plug-and-play, no setup required Verified gigabit speeds (with real-world test) Stable and reliable connection Solid metal construction Silent operation Cons: No advanced features (expected for an unmanaged switch) Overall, this is a simple, dependable, and affordable way to expand or upgrade your network. If you’re replacing an older or unreliable switch, this is an easy recommendation.

Simple, Reliable Gigabit Switch
The NETGEAR GS305 is exactly what I want in a basic network switch. It is compact, has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, and the unmanaged plug-and-play design means there is no configuration or software to mess with. Just connect the Ethernet cables and it is ready to go. The metal housing gives it a much more solid feel than some of the inexpensive plastic switches, and I really like that it is fanless, so there is no noise coming from it but it stays cool. The small size also makes it easy to tuck behind a desk, entertainment center, or network equipment. Perfect for home use or work at home. A great little switch for expanding a home network without adding unnecessary complexity. NETGEAR keeps this one simple, sturdy, and dependable.

Works great! Awesome little switch
Nice size, small, lightweight but sturdy, durable metal protective outer shell. Very easy to set up (little hard finding it on netgear site to register) and it works great so far. Have my TV and PS3 hooked up and printer is next once longer ethernet cable arrives tomorrow. Had to move in with parents and wifi is not reliable, so had to get something to manage all my connected devices. This was by far the easiest and most cost effective! Just had to get a long and set of short ethernet cables and this switch. Everything was easy to hook up and signal is great. Super convenient way to manage several devices from one ethernet cable! Definitely recommend! Also lifetime warranty and netgear is a proven trusted brand, so you can't go wrong. I'll be using this for a long time, as I'll be moving into an ADU and will need the ethernet switch in there also. Ends of cables fit in nice and snug but not too difficult to get them out to rearrange either. Happy with purchase for sure. Also like that the lights show which lines are connected, will be helpful if internet goes down, so I don't have to walk to the other side of the house to see that its out.

Plug and Play Ethernet Switch That Just Work
Exactly What I Needed — Simple, Silent, and Just Works This switch does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and that’s honestly the best compliment I can give it. It was true plug and play — no setup, no configuration, no apps, no nonsense. I plugged it in, connected my devices, and instantly had more Ethernet ports available. That was the entire experience. All 8 Gigabit ports work perfectly, speeds are solid, and it’s been completely reliable so far. It runs silently (no fan noise at all) and stays cool, which makes it great for a home office or anywhere you don’t want extra noise. If you just need to expand your wired network without thinking about it, this is the right switch. Simple, efficient, and hassle-free. I’d absolutely buy it again.

NETGEAR 8-Port Unmanaged Switch - GS308
NETGEAR 8-Port Unmanaged Switch - GS308 is a great little switch if you just need to split one Ethernet line into 7 or less more lines (one port is for the incoming line to be split). But that's it, just that simple, plug in one Ethernet line from your source (home cable modem in my case) into additional lines to feed additional routers and that is about it. Simple, quick, and easy to install, just plug and play, lol. Mine runs 24/7/365 and NEVER gets warm much less hot, never stops working, lights keep blinking to let you know it's still working, well the power light stays on steady, but the data lines blink with a wink to let me know I can depend on them, no worries. However, NO software which is actually a good thing if you just want a simple splitter with zero ability to manage or control what gets fed to what, when, how, etc. At first that was all I needed, now I need more and find myself upgrading again. I started with a 5-port switch that had 1 input port with 4 output ports, and no management software. I expanded and needed more so I bought an 8-port which added 3 more ports, nothing more, nothing less. Now I need to be able to manage some of my ports so I will be getting another NETGEAR 8-Port Switch with options for management from my desktop, laptop, smartphone, etc. and a little security built-in among other things which I find more necessary every day. I will be sticking with NETGEAR for the solid construction and long life reliability of their products. I will leave a review for whichever model ends up running with my system so I can speak to their software and management solutions. This is only for my home networking solution and served me well, so no need to change brands, just a little more money for more features that the next models up the NETGEAR line have to offer. It will be either the GS308T (simple managed switch version) or maybe for a few dollars more (what a great name for a movie) do a little future proofing with a GS308P or GS108PE-300NAS if I don't breakdown and spend even more for extra security, but then it gets more complicated with the software and I like keeping things as simple as possible while serving my actual needs. NETGEAR has never let me down and you definitely get what you pay for over TP-Link (NEVER AGAIN) for example. Stick with what works, brands you know and know they stand behind their products. You cannot go wrong with NETGEAR unless you get a model without enough ports or without port management if you need it, otherwise this model will serve you well. NETGEAR switches with their metal cases are far superior to the ones with the cheap plastic cases which can and do break as well as overheat in my personal experience.

Simple, Reliable Way to Add More Ethernet Ports to your Internet System
When I upgraded my home and shop with wired FiOS internet, I eventually ran out of available ports on my Netgear router. This little switch solved that problem instantly and even left me with a couple of extra ports for future expansion. Setup couldn't have been easier. Just connect one cable from your router to the switch, plug in the included power adapter, and you're ready to connect additional wired devices. No software or configuration is required. Each port has an LED indicator that lights to show an active connection, making it easy to confirm everything is working properly. One thing worth mentioning is that this switch is not powered through the Ethernet cable (PoE). It requires the included AC power adapter, so you'll need an electrical outlet nearby. The compact, fanless design operates silently, and it's also available in versions with more ports if your network requires additional connections. I've been using Netgear networking equipment for years and continue to choose their products because they've always proven dependable for my needs. This switch is no exception and is easy to recommend.
