This product is a lifesaver! I'm planning my wedding so naturally I don't have a single dollar to spare right now. When it came time for my engagement shoot, I wanted so badly to lighten my dark black Asian hair but I wasn't really willing to pay $100+ to get it done at a salon, and I wasn't confident enough to do it myself with boxed hair color. I remembered that girls in my elementary and middle school used to use Sun In to lighten their hair; some girls even applied it to their arms to lighten their arm hair! I purchased the product and began using it every three days or so. After washing my hair, I sprayed the product evenly throughout my hair, combed it through, and then blow dried it, activating the product with heat. Afterwards, I always applied argan and other hair oils to prevent damage. I noticed a difference within a week, and within a month, my hair was much lighter! Even though the product is recommended for lighter hair colors, it worked just fine on my black hair and I ended up with natural looking brown hair -- perfect for my beach engagement photo shoot. It does take some patience as there may be uneven spots at first, but once the unevenness becomes noticeable, you can start targeting the darker spots. Combing through is really important to get a consistent look throughout! I started using the product about 5 months ago, and maintaining the color has been fairly easy. I reapply about once every two weeks, only on my roots. It does eventually lead to some dryness so always remember to use good oils and hair repair products. I think I'll run out of this product in about two months, and I'll definitely be purchasing again. I can't believe I lightened my hair for $7.50!

I have been using Sun-In spray for decades. I have very dark brown hair and I like the streaked look. I do get streaks added in the winter but in the summer, I can usually achieve some nice looking lighter brown streaks with Sun-In. I saw some pics of people who went from black hair to almost blonde and that could NEVER happen to me unless I poured a bunch of bottles on my head and basked in the sun for hours several times or used a hair dryer and repeated the application process several times..This does contain peroxide which is what lightens the hair but it is in a much milder concentration that what hairdressers use. It still can cause damage though so be careful and watch for signs of split ends and breakage.. The tropical Sun-In has a decent scent. I didn't and don't mind the original either. I have heard that this one is more powerful than the lemon scented one. I don't know if that is true or not but this one seems to work a bit faster for me..I just spray my hair before I go out in the sun or sometimes I will spray then blow dry. The heat activates the peroxide which speeds up the lightening but you don't need heat for this to work. It's the peroxide that lightens. I only get streaks that are a few shades lighter but that's fine with me. I don't see much damage when I use this although my hairdresser warned me that I would be ruining my hair if I continued using it. After 30 years of use, I think I know my hair better than anyone and, used properly, this doesn't dry it out or break it .It is best to use on virgin hair - hair that has not been colored or chemically treated. It's easy and does work for streaks but do know that if you have dark hair, you may get a red or brassy tone rather than a blonde or light brown. I often go through the red phase before I get to the lighter brown color/dark blond because I have red undertones. I think this works best on blondes and those with light hair but it does a good job on dark hair as well but generally more subtle. Use it sparingly until you see the results you are going to get and if your hair dries out from it. It all depends on the condition of your hair and the undertones. Wash it out and condition hair well to avoid dryness and damage and you will get a nice beachy looking head of hair. I have never been able to turn my hair a completely different shade using this product though. For that,I would go to a professional.

I used this product a lot when I was a teenager and loved it. Recently my granddaughter wanted her hair lighter for summer and I got her the sun in. It still works great. After one application her hair was a little lighter, after using it three times her hair was much lighter and she loves it. Product smells really good and leaves hair soft and shiny.

I use sun-in in every few months over the top of my hair and blast it with the blow drier. I have very, very dark, cool toned hair, but the sun lightens my ends and makes them almost auburn. So Sun-In every so often helps me bring the warmth further up the shaft, making my hair look more dimensional and cohesive. It looks super natural and my hair looks glossy and healthy. Will repurchase.

Works better than others that are much more expensive. Works the same as it did in the 1960s. It's great!!!

It lightened my dark brown hair to a lighter brown in 3 uses. My hair was already warm-toned, and my skin is warm-toned as well, so I don't mind the warmth it has. The results are honestly amazing, and my hair feels healthy. I actually bought this to lighten my hair before I bleached it so I would use less bleach and damage it less. It feels and looks amazing, even if you don't brush your hair like the instructions say. I divide my hair into different parts, spray those parts separately, and then go into sunlight and it really works!!

This is the exact same stuff I used to purchase when I was a child. Lightened my hair after a few uses + a hair straightener. Did not dry out my hair at all. Nice scent too. Would recommend to anyone with brown or blonde hair for the summer. Definitely will purchase again.

It's a very dependable product and I absolutely love it.
