Lots of Quality Features Built Into This Little Pasta Board
Nice quality wood. I really like the storage in the unit that holds the dowel to roll the pasta. I looked at others, but chose this one because it has storage for the dowel. I don't have to worry about losing it. It has another hole close to the top where you can hang it in your kitchen. Another plus - if you insert the dowel into the back side flush with the front of the hole where you can hang it, it will hold the board up at a sharp angle and leave you hands free for pasta making.

When you're rolling pasta's like Cavatell(shells) your faced with a choice
We had reservations about using this little board. But we were very pleasantly surprised with how well and beatifully it works. The price is unbelievable for what it does. When you're rolling pasta's like Cavatell(shells) your faced with a choice. What to use to keep the pasta from sticking to the grooves in the board as the pasta works better than TiteBond glue when it comes to sticking to a board. My first thought was the old standby flour. Looking at the grooves its obvious that flour will build up and have to be removed regularly else the design will become poor as the flour builds up. My second thought was to use a food safe oil like food grade mineral oil or any of the food safe oils used on cutting boards. The oil works fantastic. We love thin tasty pasta. The oil permits you to really roll you dough out thin. You gently lift and roll the dough and it forms a perfect thin tasy Cavatelli.(see the pictures) I highly recommend this little wonder tool even over mama's old cheese grater. The pictures wil show you how to use this board from beginning to end.I prefer using my little pastry/pasta rolling pin that we custom made for tight places.

Works Great for Embossing Gnocchi with the Characteristic Stripes
Great value at $7.33 bought last December 2019. The board comes mounted on a hardwood base that allows me to hang it on the wall. The mounting base has a storage spot to keep the little rolling pin together with the main unit too. I like it mounted on the wall so it does not get damaged jumbled in a drawer with other kitchen gadgets. It's clearly made of naturally light colored hardwood (beechwood) with no varnish or shellac. Its finish is very fine and smooth. It came with with a small instruction card for use. I found it quite easy to gently draw the fresh gnocchi down the groves with my thumb to perfectly form the characteristic stripes. I have not yet used it for garganelli yet, but I'll try it soon. Clean-up was easy with a quick wipe with a damp dish cloth.

Easy to use and store
I used the board to make cavatelli, so happy how it came out. It's easy to use, and my cavatelli are so petty ^_^ The board is not big, you don't need it to be big, but I could do 2 cavateli at a time ;) It's in good quality. At the end, I used a fork b/c my daughter was helping me and Loved (stole) the board. I may buy one for her apartment.

Grooves too tight…
I like making my own gnocchi and this gadget helps however need to clean it 3-4 times with every batch because the dough gets stuff between the grooves and you have to clean it or no design! Otherwise it’s a neat piece of wood (valued at $1) that costs $10… go figure

Works great
As soon as I got this I gave it a heavy coating of cutting board oil, let it soak in for 24 hours, wiped it down then waxed it with a food safe wood wax. I do this for every wooden kitchen item I get, and I feel it makes them easier to clean and less likely to suffer cracking, splitting, or discoloration. The board and dowel work a treat, and the hanging hole and simple stop on the dowel storage slot means I can just wipe it down with a damp rag then hang it on it's little wall hook where it is both neatly out of the way and decorative. There's no fuss or frills, just a simple tool with basic, common sense construction that does its job exactly as it should.
