The Crescent C718 is an eighteen inch Monkey / Engineer wrench. The wrench is a special tool which can perform many tasks which other wrenches can not get done. Flat smooth jaws with a large range of opening allow the wrench to adapt to many sized nuts, bolts, pipe fittings, etc, other wrenches do not have the range of jaw opening to address the problem, and pipe wrenches will dent, mar, and scratch the material you are working on. The smooth jaws leave no marks and hold a tight fit. Crescent builds a good wrench at a reasonable price. I own the set from small to large, and use them daily. They stand up to the job and perform where no other wrench will do. Try them they will work for you also.

Love this crescent adjustable wrench, sized just right. Adjuster smooth to operate and doesn't loosens. Great priced and easy to carry in tool small too bag.

We ended up ordering a number of these but returned a few because the face of a jaw was not flat or had a casting flaw along part of its edge, or because the knurled adjustment screw would bind unless you used two (beefy) hands to turn it. That said, the ones that worked well work REALLY well - nice and parallel grip on the workpiece and they stay parallel after you snug down the jaws. The ones that work well would easily rate 5 stars, in my estimation, but the ones that have issues are not what you want and obviously would rate much lower. We decided on giving four stars just to simplify things. We very much hope the manufacturer will tighten up their quality control.

I needed to remove some valves and gauges from a series of air and propane tanks, all different sizes. The main difficulty was getting around the collars on each tank, one of which I had to cut. This tool and a sledge hammer did the whole lot. Banged on it all afternoon with a 4lb sledge and it still looks great. Right tool for the right job.

I refuse to use a standard pipe wrench on brass valves, copper thread adapters, any hex unions, or any other flat-spotted firings. I have one 14” crescent wrench already, and was actually looking for another when I found this 15” flat jawed monkey wrench. One of my pet peeves is when people use a toothed pipe wrench on soft metal or flat-spotted fittings designed for flat faced wrenches. I love how this wrench opens up about twice as far as the Crescent does. It has a great hand feel, just like it’s more vicious brother the pipe wrench. If you do any pipe fitting at all, and care about the appearance of your fittings when you’re done, you need this wrench. It will let those who follow you know that a professional was there before them

I don't know how i lived so long without this tool. These were a very popular design in the 20th century. I saw a few antique versions in a friends garage and decided i needed one. Without the patience to go antique shopping i was ecstatic to find that they still manufacture these. All the nostalgia of a WWII piece of American in brand new hard chrome. Thank you Crescent for keeping the Automotive Wrench alive.
