night and day difference
The difference in computer performance on the emachines laptop i put this in is night and day. Amazing performance compared to the stock Celeron 900. Despite what people tell you this will in fact not fit in a Lenovo 3000 n100 laptop with the Intel i945gm chip set or any other computer with an original Socket mpga479. You're laptop must have a Socket P or Socket M, if you can line up the key pins on your CPU line up with pictures of Desktop Pentium 4 mpga479 sockets you have an M or P socket if the key is in the other direction you have the original and this CPU will not work. Compatibility issues aside. This CPU is FAST. If you have an old laptop with a Celeron CPU its definitely worth the effort to install this chip. Preformance across the board was improved from the hard drive access to graphics performance allowing for light gaming at low resolutions. Start time for Microsoft Word was measured in seconds with the Celeron needs to be measured in milliseconds now. Running multiple instances of Excel and Word as well as Internet without slowing down. Battery life doesn't seem to have been significantly impacted however this CPU being able to do considerably more in the same period of time could be considered to have extended the battery life. Definitely worth up to 40$ to extend the life of your 4-5 year old laptop.

It works okay.. But not sure it was new or used....
Purchased this CPU from "I.T. Surplus Liquidators" to upgrade my Dell D630 Laptop. Item was marked as "NEW", so I purchased it. However, after the purchase, the invoice on Amazon showed it as "NEW - PULLED FROM NEW LAPTOP." Well, to me, if a CPU has been installed in a computer prior to my purchase, it is Used. Not new.. After getting a hold of the company, they told me it was an error on the invoice and had nothing to do with the CPU I purchased.. The CPU came in a little plastic tray, and didn't show any signs of residue from paste or anything. But truthfully, I can clean up a CPU to make it look like that too. Anybody can really.. I wasn't impressed that several pins were bent right out of the package.. Which does tend to make the CPU look like it was used.. I've never seen a brand new processor with "bent pins" before.. But I suppose it could be possible. So, I'll give the benefit of the doubt here.. Simply because I honestly don't know.. After redressing the pins,I installed the CPU and applied Arctic Silver 5 and heat-sink, and the laptop booted up.. It is the T7300 with 4mb of memory. It does work okay. So, I'll give it a 3 star rating.. Minus 2 stars for the bent pins and the misinformation on the invoice.. Is it used, or new? To be, or not to be.. That is the question.. You be the judge I guess..

Much better than a Celeron 560
I ordered the T7300 as the best "bang for the buck" replacement for my Celeron 560 in my Acer Aspire 5315. I just finished putting the CPU in and it is running warmer than the original, but the Arctic Silver Ceramique 2 does state it will require at least 25 hours to set in. Of course, I'm not sure how well I applied it, but time will tell. On a benchmark it rates 50% faster or so than the original CPU for the overall score. I can't beat that for $10. Luckily, CPU replacement in a Acer Aspire 5315 is very easy compared to other laptops, i.e. no major disassembly required. I would recommend that if you are considering this or any other model, check online for whether anyone has done such an upgrade on your make & model (or even come standard on a more loaded version of yours). In my case, there are many testimonials of successful T7300s in laptops like mine. Also, consider that your RAM speed may increase, so verify that your existing RAM can handle that (CPU-Z or another program can tell you this). In my case, the 5315 goes to a maximum of 667 Mhz on RAM even when FSB hits 800 Mhz as the case of the T7300. Windows Vista immediately recognized the T7300 requested a reboot and it works fine. It will take time to see how well it handles the thermal load, but that is more of a "how well did you apply the thermal paste" issue. If it turns out you didn't do a good enough job, you can always start over and apply again. I also would recommend using Zeiss eye glass wipes to clean off the heatsink & CPU. Other methods exist, but this is pretty foolproof and they are $5 or so for 100 wipes. So, good luck to all buyers and just exercise caution when replacing your CPU, i.e. make sure it is orientated the same as the original (look for the triangle in the corner's position relative to the slot); clean off fan, heatsink/pipe, & exhaust vent; clean any thermal compound off of components that it doesn't belong; make sure battery is removed before you even start; just treat everything as gently and carefully as possible; find a video or instruction for your make & model of a CPU replacement if it exists (in many cases it does); and as always your results may vary, but being prepared and informed will go a long way (such as mapping out screw placements).

Amazing price to performance, and a great upgrade processor!
For the price, I've nearly DOUBLED the performance of my Acer Aspire 5336 laptop, and the extra core over the original Celeron 900 in my laptop helped immensely when it came to multitasking, which is pretty crucial when it comes to high-school workloads.

works so far
I inherited a laptop form my in-laws that they installed windows 7 on but didn't upgrade any of the components ( it originally came with Vista installed) , then they bought a new one because the old one ran too slow. I replaced the CPU, added RAM and upgraded the hard drive. I gave it to my son-in-law about 2 months ago and it is still working fine and much faster. Didn't do any before and after benchmark tests, it just seems to boot up and run faster. I wanted to make sure everything ran OK before writing a review. Product arrived quickly and installed easily, all together it cost me about $120 to upgrade everything and my son-in-law is quite happy. Much cheaper than buying a used laptop.
