Advice From Rufus
My review is going to be more about Rufus. I was struggling to pick a bulb that met the requirements for an outside fixture with ballast. I turned to Rufus for help and he answered my question. Next he asked if I needed specific info. I did and he came back with 5 bulbs that would be suitable. Plus, he gave me some very helpful info about a compatible ballast and an ANSI code. I am so impressed with the help. Two thumbs up to Rufus and Amazon. You're a game changer. Last but not least - The bulb worked!!

Cost effective replacement bulb!
Exactly what I needed to replace the bulb in my barn lite. Hope it lasts as long as the Phillips bulb it replaced. That one lasted 6 years

Used high pressure sodium lt bulb
We just had the two bulbs my husband was waiting on ….. ordered the last two & immediately my husband noticed one had been used & one was good…. The used one had scraps on the metal & the box was wrapped in sloppy tape ….. please help me….do I return the bad one? So so annoying….. the other one looked new from the factory

It works
Great bulb, good color and it works. A little on the yellow/ orange light spectrum, but I like it better than straight white bc it's softer on the eyes. Would buy again.

Engineered Obsolescence! Plenty bright for 70w, but only last about 1/3 as long as advertised.
Plenty bright for only 70 watts. HPS is a good technology. However, it only lasts about 1/3 the amount time it says it will. 24,000 hours is a little over 3 years of constant service. Dusk-to-dawn would be about twice that, or 6 years. I've had to replace these bulbs 5 times now, over about 8 years, and they all start cycling on and off after less than one year. I don't replace them right away when they start because I'm annoyed, AGAIN, that they don't last near as long as advertised and it's difficult to climb up there and replace them! I've got some mercury vapor lights that have worked for 40 years and still going strong. I've got some old HPS bulbs that have been working 20 years now. ENGINEERED OBSOLESCENCE.
