They were well packaged, in a double layer of plastic bags with water and the 3 snails. The bag was wrapped in newspaper inside a small box. Upon arrival 2 were stuck to the bag which was a great sign! Their water was decently clean and had no odor. They were active and moving around the tank from the start! I was not hopeful they’d survive the long shipping but they are thriving! Review: Slow mail, Hardy snails - These snails took a long time to get here in the mail. When they were delayed I contacted the seller. He told me to wait and see how they were, and if there was any problem after that to contact him. They finally got here. I put them in the tank and they didn't move much for a while. But now after several days they are thriving. They are all over the tank and plants and I can see them cleaning everywhere. So, since I'm not giving a rating to the USPS, I will give the seller five stars.

Slow mail, Hardy snails

This is *not* a seller who's would be allowed to ship live products.
The shipment arrives in a United States postal services box with a plastic bag and dead snails (note that we bought them assuming they would indeed by alive). There is no thermal insulation except that the seller says he stuffs hand warmers (like the kind you use when skiing that only last a few hours) in the package (there were no hand warmers). The package was scotch taped in what appeared to be a hurry. If you read the description of the goods your are purchasing, the seller requires advanced meteorological degrees so you can accurately predict the weather based on his undisclosed shipping and handling times. The end result is that even if you are hand delivered your goods by your local USPS employee but there happens to be a cold front and that night the temperature touched 40 degrees, the seller will tell you that there will be no refunds honored and that it was your fault for not predicting that particular weather outcome. In other words, he can ship you 3 dead snails on a 50 degree day that smell of putrid human sweat mixed with sewage in water that looks like it was extracted from rotten food and it is not his problem because he will argue that USPS leaves its overnight packages outside apparently (they don't, they are actually stored in temperature controlled post office buildings for the next day's deliveries). If you choose to challenge his unreasonable policy this particular child will throw the equivalent of a tantrum, using phrases like "welcome to the hall of shame" and other nonsense that you would never ever get from a professional seller on Amazon. This seller is 100% unqualified to ship live products. Outside of violating health laws and a general disregard for life (I get that they are snails, but it is still disappointing that someone like this would be allowed to hurt animals of any sort), the seller has little understanding of the normal course of business, has little understanding on how reasonable business policies should be set, has absolutely no understanding of basic 101 on how to ship live products, has no ability to accept responsibility for mistakes, and is most likely someone's kid making a few bucks on the side without any parental supervision whatsoever. My recommendation is to avoid this seller at all costs and if you too have been caught up in the scam of receiving dead snails, reach out to Amazon customer service. They are awesome, they'll refund you even when a seller like this is being unprofessional and obstinate. One can only hope that this seller is ultimately removed from the marketplace. Note that in the picture shows one of the dead snail already exiting its shell immediately after day of arrival. We were told to put the snail back in the tank to let it "acclimate" from their watery graves. The seller also stresses the importance of leaving the snails in their tanks for 4+ weeks to "acclimate", stressing that they will not move for weeks on end after the abuse he gives them from shipping. The seller knows full well that after this time period it will be very difficult for you to argue a return. Also note that dead snails rot and will make your other fish ill.

Zebra Stripes and Zero Stress — This Seller Gets It Right
Received a trio of healthy Nerite Zebra snails from a vendor who clearly understands live animal care. Packaging was top-tier: insulated, temperature-controlled, and thoughtfully wrapped. The snails were active within minutes of arrival—vivid, lively, and clearly well cared for. Highly recommend this seller for anyone serious about aquatic welfare.

Arrived alive and lively but a little chipped
Snails arrived alive and surprisingly active. Didn't take long for them to get adjusted to my prescience and their temporary tank until they're ready for the main one. My biggest issue though is that all 3 have a bit of chipping on the tip of their shells. I understand that it's normal for the tip to be white or chipped a bit overtime, but 2 out of 3 have bigger chips that I'll have to keep an eye on. Another small complaint I have is that one snail did arrive mostly black (definitely younger than the other two), but I'm assuming they'll grow into their Zebra stripes, so I'm not particularly worried haha! It's been less than 12 hours since I've had them but I'll update if any major issues occur :) UPDATE: My snails lived happy lives and I never had any issues with them along the way.

Healthy looking shells, needs faster shipping carrier
Firstly, I want to say that the shell of the snails I received was beautiful. They were glossy with no pitting. I could tell they were well raised. For snail quality, I give it a 5. I have another nerite that isn't even close to this pretty! That being said, only 1 of the 3 I ordered survived being shipped. While I was surprised that the snails did not come in a styrofoam package (they were in a bag with water and air, simply wrapped in paper in the box), ultimately, it wasn't the seller's fault. USPS got the package stuck at a carrier facility and it sat for several days... The delivery was 5 days late. I reached out to the seller beforehand and they said they would refund me for them if they were dead. Their customer service was excellent. Two of the snails were definitely dead (sniff test is unmistakable). The one snail that survived is still doing alright, despite being close to dead upon arrival. What a hardy little guy! The seller was pleasant and promptly refunded me for the dead ones. I would consider ordering from them again because of the quality of the snails. Just maybe at a less busy shipping time, or perhaps with a different carrier. Thank you!
