Pleasant surprise
There are many bad reviews for this valet. And the list of problems is big: * Smaller version shipped, * Flimsy plastic drawer, * Leather lining peeling off, * Unglued or broken glue joints, * Cellphone tray doesn't allow power connection on the side, * Power strips only allows two power adapters, * Power strip glued in place, making it very difficult to replace. After reading these reviews, I started looking for an alternative. But this is the only one I saw that had a drawer that would handle a checkbook or wallet [and not at triple the price]. So when it arrived, I grabbed wood glue, wood clamps, contact cement, and opened the box... The one I received was nearly perfect in every respect!! It is just as pictured! All wood construction. No plastic drawer or peeling lining. No physical defects. I had no problem with plugging the power connection into the side of my cellphone. The power strip was mounted via special screws that match the keyhole mounts on its bottom. So to replace the power-strip, just slide and lift. The cellphone tray is on a hinge. Just lift the entire tray up to access the power strip connections. It even has a little lid support arm to keep it open, while you making connections. The drawer is just big enough for my wallet and checkbook. [a perfect fit] ...So are there any problems?... Well yes,... the reviews were right about only having room to plug-in two AC adapters (since each adapter will cover two adjacent outlets). I also wanted to mention the packaging: Thick styrofoam mold protected the valet. That was inside of standard store type "display box". And that was inside of a very thick shipping box. [saying "Made in China" all over it] And since I purchased it from Amazon; they put that inside another box. (I wish my electronic items were packaged so nicely!)

Poor construction-bad design
To a degree you get what you pay for, but here are the specific problems with this product: 1 - the leather-like material that your device sits on was poorly glued and coming up at the corners. It was also improperly cut around the holes for the cables and the general size was wrong on the lower shelf. 2 - The power strip that comes with it has a very short cable, so you'll need an extension cord just to make it from the top of a desk to the floor unless you place this right over a plug socket. 3 - There are 2 predrilled screws that can be used to attach the strip to the inside of the box: They were set to high and I had to adjust them 4 - There is no backing block behind the drawer, so by the time you get a few power supplies in the box itself, the cords can easily foul on the drawer as you open and close it 5 - Quite possibly the most annoying problem - the power strip can only sit with the plug sockets facing up, and it is too thick to accomodate an Iphone charger or an Amazon Kindle charger without stressing the top of the charging cables when you close the case. You have to take the strip off its keepers, tilt it on its side and let everything just sit in there loose, which is not tidy and causes problems with the drawer. All in all, a decent idea, but poor quality control and poor design/part selection on the part of the power strip.

Charging station is excellent!
I'd been looking for something like this for a long time. I keep our phones/chargers/husband's wallet/misc other small items on our kitchen countertop. I hated having them there but it was the only convenient spot for them. This charging station is beautiful. It put an end to my clutter and now we have a place for everything, and everything in its place! Very pleased.

Quality woodwork for the price
Not too shoddy of a product, although certainly not something I would expect to see on the desk of a CEO. The laminate black surface treatment was slightly peeling when I received the charging station, and the drawer is loose in it's housing, but pushing firmly on the laminate and opening the drawer gently take care of those problems. This product does have oval holes on the back, I'm assuming they are there for ventilation of the surge protector and plugs, as well as to route cords through. Just an FYI if you are placing this in a location where the back will be visible to people sitting across your desk from you.

LOVE this unit so much I bought a second one (after my first was stolen by my ex LOL)
I had one of these but my ex stole it... LOL I had to go buy another, and was so glad that the exact same one was still available. It looks SO nice and works perfectly. We store keys in the drawer, and have various phone and tablet plugs coming out all around the unit. It's GREAT. If I were to change one thing, I'd change the fact that they now firmly attach the plug strip inside the unit. This makes some plugs difficult to maneuver due to cramped quarters. It did work for me, but I could see how this might end up being a problem if you have awkward plug configurations.

Has a couple problems, be ready to spend more money.
It's a little big but not bad. The finish is only pretend cherry but looks OK for what it is. Mine had the fake leather glued in poorly but I was able to press it down, we'll see if that lasts I doubt it. This unit has a couple of glaring problems: 1: The power strip will only take two wall warts. The plugs are just too close together. If they were rotated 90 degrees you could install three of the new type supplies but certainley no more. Notice in the picture none of the devices shown are plugged in. You could use the short strip savers shown in the 'buy with' section, but that's a 'buy me' to use this box. 2: The power cord is too short. Be ready to use a three prong extension chord, another 'buy me'.

Poor quality!
This item wasn't like the picture showed. The plug was very short. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
