Would it fit a food processor?

I’m not sure how large your food processor is, I have a mixer and processor& I feel it would be too large

Is the bottom open so you can just place the cover mixer without lifting the mixer?

Yes. It just slides over the top. I really like the print I chose. The cover is a bit big for my mixer which is the kind that tilts up. It probably fits better on the larger mixers that have the bowl that moves up to the beaters. I think I will take the seams in slightly to make it fit better. But, it is fine the way it is. The pockets in the front are really handy.

How thick is the material?

The material is fairly thick, not bulky yet not just one layer of material thin.
