How many hours does it  take for the water to go through the filter.  Its been 5 hours and my tank has  only 2". It drip only one drip at a time.  Is this unusual?

The first few times the filter is ran, you should expect about 12 hours for the basin to fill. After that, we average between 6-8. They do sell a high flow top filter for $15 from their main website and it is worth the extra cash. Good luck!

Does the base have to be used or not. Seems the height is above normal wall cabinet door and will obstruct......

You don't need the base if you can get a glass under the spigot...Actually the spigot hangs below into the base area so it would have to be out to the edge of the cabinet for the spigot to hang and a glass to fill with the water...Don't forget you have to take the lid off to add water every day...

Does this gallon filter comes with its filter and the ceramic dome? or have to buy it separated, I just want to be sure!!!

yes, ceramic filter and 5 stage filter unit come with the Zen system.  I ordered two extra sets anyways. I'm at 1 1/2 years with original unit.  Clean ceramic filter every 3 months with green scrub pad.
