I have a 16 channel lnr 400 that came with 9 cameras. is there anything special to do to add more cameras or is it plug and play?

Compatible camera and cable (unless your unit includes wireless capability) should be all you need.

Does it come with a 100 feet cable ??

Yes it comes with the cat 5 e cable 100' Amazon is $75.00 less expensive than going to Lorex direct.

Yes. I've 8 of them hooked up to my LNR4080.

Is this model newer than the lnb3143b?

Lorex lists this model on there web as LNB3143b-w. I believe there is just one series of this model so far. The one I bought from this vendor is the same that was supplied through Lorex. They will work only with the NVR that is compatible, see Lorex for compatibility chart.
