Surprisingly Excellent Microphones!
Wow. These are a nice matched pair of small pencil condenser mics. I have a large collection of mics that range from the $1000-50 range. I had read a review about these mics on another site, and thought for the price they might be nice as a second pair of overhead mics or to use for stereo acoustic guitar takes. I was impressed with these the first time around. Their build quality is very nice, they are exceptionally light but sturdy. No more needing to have a heavy duty boom stand for heavier mics on overhead drums! They sound detailed also. They are not thin or bass heavy or mid scooped. They are very true to sound, with a slight bump in the upper midrange to high frequencies. However, they certainly do not sound thin (which was what I was afraid of before I tried them out). I havent used them as overheads yet, only acoustic guitar, and while they don't beat out some of my other mics for their sound (albeit much more expensive mics), they do sound very very good. Not to mention how lightweight they are and just easy to set up. I would definitely recommend these to anyone. Sweet sounding mic's here!

Photos and description inaccurate: single mic, not two
This is a single mic, not a matched pair. I’ve owned the match pair of LCT 40’s for several years now, and it’s been great for live use or as an extra set of SDC’s to have waiting in the wings for studio use, so I decided to order a second pair. Photos and description depict it as the matched set, but it’s just one. Returning.

These are now the best instrument mics I own.
At first I wasn't much impressed. But no, it was all mic placement. These are very sensitive and have a very high SPL. I found that for my 'style' of playing they sound best at 12-18 inches from just in front of the bridge and at the neck/body junction. That's what works best for me so far with my Taylor 815 and 414. A classical guitar required a little more distance, about 24 inches. I have about 10 mics from Sure, AKG, and MXL. These win every time. My signal path is directly through a Beheringer UMC404HD into Cubase 12 at 24/48. One thing I have noticed is that they are so sensitive that they pick up the 'Ultra Quiet' computer that drives everything. Pay attention to your environment! A month later: The more I use these the more I like them. They sound completely natural. Flat response and able to handle a wide range of dynamics. For $200 a pair? Do yourself a favor and buy them already.

Excellent all around
These small condenser microphones punch way above their weight. They are ultra-compact, crystal clear, light and very inexpensive for the high quality produced. The matched pairs are perfect when you need to get the sound right. As a filmmaker who often records live events, these have upped my game considerably.

Beware if you expect a pair of microphones
Incorrect product description. I clearly ordered and was expecting a set of two microphones. The description said pair and stated there would be two microphones in the box, however I received a single microphone instead.

Great Drum Overheads
Use for drum overheads in church. We have a custom built drum booth. The ones we had were rather harsh and shrill. These are silky smooth. Fantastic for price. Read a review in Recording Magazine a couple of years ago. I may get a pair for my home studio.

Hard to Beat for a pair of Great Sound Small Condensers
The reviews on the 040 mics do not lie. These are great sound low-noise mics, and for the money, they are hard to beat. While I have not put them through all the paces yet so far I am very satisfied. I have set them up in an ORTF configuration. I wish Lewitt could offer or at least recommend a furry for them. But one of the reasons I wanted them was to try to fit them in a Rode blimp. I haven't gotten that far and in to get them to fit I might have to go with low profile xlr connectors.

Defective?
This is a great mic. But hardly a few months old, one of the mics suddenly stop responding.

Only a single microphone arrived and not a match pair.
What was advertised as a pair (2) of stereo match microphones only arrived as a single microphone. I think the problem may be with Lewitt's packaging as on the box the description is LCT 40 MATCH and a misunderstanding of what is actually advertised. A person not understanding audio would not know the difference.

Excellent clarity and detail
Bought the LCT 040 matched pair on the advice of a highly respected friends ears and they sit well in the mix next to my 451s and 184s. Exceptional mic for the money, un-harsh and open, good detail and quiet. Any mic locker would do well to have a pair on hand for Pianos, Acoustic Guitar, String Bass, Drum Overheads, etc. I have already used these to record outdoor ambiances to great success. Windscreens and mic clips are a nice touch, too. Glad I listened.

Cute and quiet little mics
I use these for field recording of forest scapes. They are small and pretty solidly built, have great sound, and are pretty quiet. I use them on my Zoom F6 and H4NPro and they are equally suited for each. As long as they don't futz out on me I'm sure I'll keep using them for a long, long time.
