Chinese Short Stories: 11 Simple Stories for Beginners Who Want to Learn Mandarin Chinese in Less Time While Also Having Fun

I started out with just characters, and was able to see and recognize very familiar characters. I was even able to read a sentence. Which definitely helped my confidence. I really enjoyed this book.

I find the stories enjoyable and the format very helpful for my studies. would recommend.

I havent read all the stories yet, but they are interesting enough and varied. After all, it is a book about learning Chinese so the stories have to be of different subjects. My only wish is that the pinyin was put right after the chinese sentence and not grouped in a whole paragraph. Or better yet, just have the tone marks above the characters and then have the pinyin grouped in a paragraph. Spacing the chinese sentences a bit so that we could write notes near certain charactes would have been appreciated too.

Improving my Chinese reading skills

"Chinese Short Stories" is a well written book. It's level is appropriate for the advanced beginner - lower intermediate level student. By presenting the Hanzi, as well as pinyin and English together, students can immediately check their translation and understanding. Reading comprehension is checked after each story by a series of question and answers. "Chinese Short Stories" can be a useful complement to any Chinese Language student wanting to practice and/or expand upon their formal lessons. 5 stars! "

This is an absolutely great book that I highly recommend if you are a beginner at reading Chinese! It’s short stories are simple, yet created in a way to help you learn. I am looking forward to any upcoming books as well.

This book will be a great summer reading for my Intermediate mid to high students! Love this book includes vocabulary lists and sentence practice.

A little tough for my kids, but a good addition for when they get older. I like that it has English, Chinese, and pinyin.

Liked the short stories.

The layout of the story is very clear and sensible. I like the idea that I am not straightaway drawn to either Pinyin or English translation. Ideally I would have preferred a much bigger font and more space between lines to work out myself the Chinese characters. Hence the 4 starts
