Very quiet, I use it for the Block heater on my diesel truck, 2to3 hours before I go to work in the morning

Unlike the modern digital timers, I will remember how to set this one YEARS from now (it's so straightforward). Whereas otherwise I would have long ago lost the instructions for a digital one. Sometimes simplicity is the key to a superior product. :-D

This little timer is small, quiet and does its job.

Sometimes the timer skips and won't come on when set. Otherwise it works very well.

Happy with purchase, works as expected.

The Tork RTN 112 timer is very similar to the old Intermatic timers I used to have that finally quit working. Setting the time is quick and intuitive. I also purchased the Tork RTN 312 timer thinking it might be better to have a grounded plug for my multiple strands of Christmas lights plugging into one timer. Both seem to keep great time. The Tork timers were at a more reasonable price point than the comparable Intermatic timers so that's what sold me.

Once again, wishful thinking got the best of me and I bought this torqued RTN312 timer. Wishful thinking because many reviews listed problems, but most didn't. I bought it, I regret it. I used it, it failed just outside of return/refund window. What a waste of time. And money. And now, I'm forced to leave a review to warn off other gullible souls to STAY AWAY from this timer. If you require more info why this product is a crap-shoot, please read on... OPERATION: This mechanical timer operates by positioning the red/green timer pins to turn on/off power. The "on" pin trips a tooth in the timer to power up; the "off" pin trips a different tooth to power down. The "tooth" mechanism that is tripped by the pins seems to have four cycles in its rotation, which only matters if there's a problem inside the gearing. PROBLEM: On my unit, in one of the four "turn on" cycles in the "tooth" mechanism, the internal gearing was stiff or broken. As a result, 25% of the time, the timer DIDN'T TURN ON. It seemed to kinda work fine at the beginning, but it's hard to say because I sometimes unintentionally manually overrode the on/off tooth wheel. When I finally got fed up that my chicken coop door wasn't opening or closing on time, I sat down and figured out that there is a problem with the gearing. BUT IT WAS TOO LATE TO RETURN FOR REFUND! DISGUSTED, PESSIMISTIC OVERALL OBSERVATION: I mean, why bother to get up and go to work if the product you design or manufacture is just plain junk? Instead, skip the whole marketing, selling, and shipping process and simply throw it right into the trash. That's the "Green" way to go, or at least the Amazon-endorsed business model.

This is a great timer. It's very easy to set and comes with plenty of pins for setting. I just taped the unused pins to the timer so i don't lose them in case i ever need them. The over-ride switch is nice because it turns the light off (if it's already on) or turns it on (if it's already off) until the next timer event, so it doesn't affect the settings at all. I also love the pin method of setting the timer. It is quick, intuitive, easy to change, and you can't accidentally bump it and mess up your programming like on the timers with the circle of little switches that are pushed in or out to set the timer.

I like the reliability of this model. The newer ones have tabs you lift or depress. I've had two of them and they stick. This model is much easier to use.
