Does exactly what it should...ultra portable mixing station
i waited for something like this for many years...you don't always want to pack up all your dj equipment for house parties. I've owned this for almost 2 years now and probably shoulda reviewed sooner but this review has more perspective. when thinking about this purchase, factor in these new realities: with a good set of portable speakers, you can mix anywhere, i've rocked pool parties, parks, backyards, with only this unit, my headphones, and my portable harmon kardons (play and go). i've rocked peoples cars on long road trips...you have a dj booth anywhere there's an mp3 input cable. Also all effects, beat matching hot keys, all work as advertized...the echo effect is particurlarly good. Point blank...you can rock most situations with this thing and people seriously trip out the first time you drop a beat matched mix with echo/reverb going on and bass kills. so here are the weaknesses for a dose of some reality (keep in mind i give this thing 5 stars): 1) its easy to make a mistake...one wrong button push...whoops. therefore i'd say it'd be hard to use this in professional setting...you need partyers that know what you are using and take the mostly good with the sometimes sound kills. 2) the sound for the cueing is pretty bad...you can not differentiate the sounds while trying to cue up a track..ie when you are moving cue point manually to say first beat or vocal hook. you kind of have to guess and trial and error to get it right. 3) because of the controls, it is difficult (almost impossible) to do things like crossfade while say taking bass out of one track at same time. this is a key thing for people doing tight mixes and avoiding train wrecks 4) its not as fun as using full setup...that should be obvious for any dj that has been doing this for a while. you kind of feel like you are playing a video game on a phone. 5) navigating during a set can be tricky with the tiny display screen...it's way easier if you have your playlist setup (as Cases). 6) no scratching - can't have everything Bottom line is if you want to be able to mix whenever/wherever you want and you've got friends that appreciate it...buy this. I guarantee you will DJ with friends more often, and parties will pop up around you spontaneously.

tonium pacemaker
great product, fast shipping... I look forward to learning all the features and being proficient with. Wish there were a waveform display and a pause without stutter but other than that...very impressive!

A VERY NICE UPGRADE FOR IPOD USERS
I have owned an Ipod for more than 5 years and were ready for an upgrade....I bought the 60GB Pacemaker a week ago and I can tell you it works great!!!....you only have to practice a little to handle the controls with ease. A nice feature: it recognizes the itunes playlists (I have about 100) so I was worried about this (did not want to make them again). By the way, playlists are called Cases in the Pacemaker. It has two modes: Play mode and Mix Mode. The play mode has most of the features of the Ipod....but the Mix mode is great!!..you can beatmatch two songs, make loops, a lot of special effects, and many more stuff to play around, making it a great toy. If you do not want to get tied all evening in a casual party interacting with the device you can set it in Play mode and let the Cases (Playlists) work for you (but will not automatically mix them). The 60GB version only comes with an USB cable for charging the internal battery through a computer. It would be nice to have also a AC charger. The US$500 value seams a little too much, but this device is really two in one, I mean an Ipod (US$225) with a DJ Console (US$275). If you want an Ipod upgrade, go for it!!

p666 tonium pacemaker
I bought the Pacemaker dj because I aways wanted one since it came out, and when I found one less than two hundred dollars I decided that it was time to own one. The unit is strong, well built and has great sounds great. But the downsides are, first you have no support website from the makers of the unit, when you go to their web page all the suppors are for a pacemaker software they got on the BB tablet and that it, its like they never even made the p666. Next is the gadget itself, it is hard to use, the interface is mediocre at best, the controls are complicated and there isn't a way to organize your music for easy reach like in an Ipod. The pacemaker dj in my oopinion is not worth your money, its a great conversation piece but not worth the headache to live with as a primary personal music box.

Interesting, but little trustworthy.
If you think to buy it like a toy... ok. But forget about a party with it. Somes little bugs witn the softwares on the Pacemaker and Pacemaker Editor is the app more slowest one than already. It needs urgent updates to correct the troubles. High cost, Low benefit. Maybe, you find one app in iPhone that of more entertainment.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!! device
Let me say that am a audiomenista & a DJing enthusiast and this device blends both worlds to perfection. Let me say that i was little bit skeptic when i buy it but after couple of hours a use i just fell in love. You can learn how to dj very fast, of course it helps if you know the theory at least. Very easy to use. You can definitely rock a party with this device. About a club, technically you can. This device will revolutionize the dj world as we know it, it takes DJing to all living rooms, parks, basements, rooms, car, ANYWHERE!!!! This is an ipod mixed with a CDJ. My only CON is that you can't make a playlist, just in case you just want to listen not DJ.

Does not work well
When I bought the Tonium I had done some research online and watched a couple of youtube clips showing how it works and was very excited to check it out... What a disappointment... Mixing with this thing is impossible

The reason a CDJ rig works so well isn't just the spot on timing - it's the control layout: one place for each thing and each thing in its place. A CDJ setup is well laid out for ergonomic use. The Pacemaker could potentially be seen as a pocket sized CDJ rig. It will never be ergonomically laid out like a real CDJ rig but it will let the user put on a respectable and enjoyable mix as long as they learn their instrument and trust their instincts. All the key equipment to make a good mix is available but you have to get used to where the controls are and how to get to them when you need them. The built in BPM counter is accurate most of the time [very much like a CDJ deck], as is the synchronisation indicator BUT REMEMBER that they are both only indicators. To do a good mix rely on your skills and what you can hear. I recommend this product to existing CDJ users who want truly portable mixing. It takes a little while to get used to the controls and when mixing one must trust their instincts over the BPM indicator, but like CDJs, once you're used to the controls it's fairly straight forward. Sound quality seems good in my opinion. I think this product is unique - proper mixing potential in your pocket. Just one complaint - I feel the battery life isn't quite as good as Tonium make out.

Can't stop using this device, it's unreal for making beats and tracks on. Glad to have bought one before they stopped producing them and now only use the app equivalent.
