Great smaller backpack that's still big on size
I purchased the Case Logic DLBP-114 backpack after a couple nights of web research while watching TV. I was looking for a bag that would give a somewhat professional look (I know, sometimes at a certain point a backpack for a working adult can only look so professional). I had been using a messenger bag but I wanted to be able to disperse weight over both shoulders and not have a bag that banged against my leg when I walked. Things I looked for in a backpack: - Professional look (no bright color or loud pattern) - Smaller footprint (I'm not a student looking to carry books and lunch) - Price ($25-35 range) - Good style I have had the bag just over a month and I am really loving the backpack. I got it for just under $24 so the price was right. The black color is great and the touch of red isn't too loud (being in Lincoln, Nebraska, red is quite popular so it works even in a professional environment for most people). I like the cosmetic cross stitching on the front pocket, it gives a nice look and breaks it up versus an all flat look. For me (6'1" male) the backpack is comfortable and the straps sit well. I love the addition of built in Velcro straps to wrangle in the excess strap length. The smaller footprint is the biggest selling point on the bag for me. It is only about 7 inches deep (as in the space from your back out horizontally while wearing it) but has plenty of space. So many backpacks stick out far and make you look like a student or like you are going on a trek. Also the bigger the bag gets the more I fill it, adding weight. I keep a 13" Macbook Air, iPad Mini, Jambox speaker, Nintendo 2ds, 5 pens/pencils, 4 small gadget bags (chargers, usb drives, adapters), a notebook, keys, wallet, gum, chap-stick and always have a bit more space for other random things. The laptop portion has ok protection. I am considering buying another one to keep in storage for a couple years from now as a replacement since I use the bag five days a week at a minimum. It's an amazing bag and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a smaller backpack that still has a couple organizational pockets in it.

Very Durable Backpack
I’ve had this backpack for 11 years now and it has been one of my all time favorites! I use it everyday so it’s well worn, but it is still holding up pretty well. Never had any issues with the zippers or the material. Very durable and lightweight with plenty of space for my laptop, iPad and many other things.

Attention Road Warriors: Great Small Commuter Backpack!
Continually searching for the perfect backpack that balances comfort and professional appearance for business travel, this is as close as I could find in the last year. Goldilocks would love it, as it's not too small, and not too large, but just about right. It can fit any laptop 14" or smaller (and a 15" MacBook Pro, since it's thinner), and it is well protected both around all sides and the bottom. The remaining portion of the main compartment does not have the additional padding, however, so books or other items can be stowed here. I fit a smaller netbook and tablet in the computer portion easily, with room to spare. Some older bags had installed a "lie-flat" unzip option, so you could leave your computer securely in place, and zip open the bag to be screened. Since airports are now giving us the "pre-check" screening option, PC's do NOT have to come out of the bag, or lie flat on the belt anymore. This backpack's zipper (larger than standard, easier to grab) does not go all the way down to the bottom, preventing that random "I'm free!" awkward moment during the airport commute, where all contents go spilling about haphazardly. Straps are adequate, with surplus being neatly tucked into Velcro holders, so less to worry about there. Ample pocket space for various smaller electronics, including two zip (not mesh) pockets on either side. Overall, great value, and well-constructed bag by Case Logic. A winner!

Compact and light
Bought this for my MacBook 13" a few months ago, not providing review until I had used the bag. At first, when I pulled the backpack out of the box, I thought it looked bigger than I had pictured it to be, but after using it, it really is slimline - probably because the front of the bag doesn't bulge like my other regular backpacks - it keeps its shape. The material, to me, is strong and well-made. Zips do not feel cheap either - some bags I've experienced the zips to stick and even break. The pouch that carries the computer is wider than I've seen in other laptop carriers so there is 'room' around the laptop. My Mac fits right into the pouch (my 17" didn't but I had to try!) so it's totally protected from being scratched or damaged. The pouch is directly on the side that rests on your back so provides more firmer support for the computer and your back. The main zipped area where the computer stays is still large enough to store other electronics. If you have a larger battery pak, reader, tablet, etc. these would fit in there no problem. I have put my lunch in there with my purse/wallet and have also stuffed a light rain jacket - plenty of room for such a small, compact bag! One thing I would change about this, is the lining of the small zipped pocket at the top of the bag. When I open the main area, the lining of this pocket gets in the way so I'm going to sew the bottom of it into the lining (it's where I keep the charger). The front zipped area has lots of little compartments and some more space to stash a few more items. There's 2 small side pockets that I use for my keys, phone charger and anything I need to get at quickly. The shoulder padding is sufficient and the balance of the bag on my shoulders and across my back makes carrying this very easy - sometimes seems I don't even have the backpack on. I'd give it five stars if they had made the top pocket less flappable inside and maybe put an area on the straps to keep my phone, otherwise it's a great little bag.

So far, I am pleasantly pleased.
So, this thing is amazing. I absolutely praise the form, design, etc. Unfortunately, through no other error other than my own, this thing does not fit my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1400, but that's because it is designed for Mac. However, I still kept it, and I'll tell you why: a, there is this second laptop container inside the main pouch that is perfect for my laptop, and also this thing is waterproof. Literally, this thing has not allowed a single drop of water in and I've been in torrential downpours several times lately. Of course, I ran it through the water test first (basically, putting a piece of water absorbent material in the bag and then dumping a cup of water on it) and it passed both. I am very pleased, and so far, it has no signs of wear and tear. So many little compartments that can fit nearly every knickknack and gadget you have, so there's no problems there. I love it, it's great, and it is stylish too. Doesn't make you look like a snail carrying your house around on your back. However, some drawbacks are it doesn't have much packing space for books and so it's obviously not one good for really heavy materials. But then again, it fits all of the smaller books and all notebooks up to and including 5 subject, so it's an A+ there. So long as you don't mind carrying your books in your arms (I don't mind that, so it's not a drawback for me) this backpack is exactly what you need.

perfect for my macbook and plethora of gear
I use this for my macbook pro. I like that it has the padded section within the main compartment. In the main compartment, I also keep a large external power bank (anker 735, look it up to see the size), a bottle of water (sealed of course), and a bag that contains accessories for my macbook, headphones, wires, etc. In the front zipper compartment, I keep a couple packs of tissues, snacks sometimes, and sometimes a small toiletry bag if I'm staying overnight somewhere. In the little zipper compartment which is in the front zipper compartment, kind of hidden, I keep my three wallet sized power banks, (I know, that's a lot of external power, but I need to be prepared for anything when riding mobility link), and a spare set of earbuds. Then in the small outer zipper compartment on the top, I keep a chapstick and any other miscelaneous odds and ends that I want quick access to. I keep my android media player in one of the small zip side pockets. My only gripe about this backpack is it doesn't have a water bottle compartment, and the material on the inside of the top small compartment is kind of fleece lined, and uncomfortable on sensitive skin. Overall, this is a great backpack, and holds a ton, believe me, I load test these things, lol.

perfect for my commute
I was in the market for a sleek clean-looking backpack that didn't look like a college backpack, and fortunately came across this bag after doing some research online. It's great for my daily commute. It has all the compartments I need in the right spots - laptop charger stored in the bottom of the front compartment, pens, headphones, wallet stored in the top of the front compartment, two rather tiny side pockets for keys, gum, snacks, or other small devices (USB flash drive). The best part is how compact it is. Having said this, it can't handle a pair of sneakers or like 2 thick text books. It's designed for holding say: a laptop, an iPad, peripherals, plus one thick text book and some note books. I would definitely recommend this product. One suggestion to Case Logic: I wish there was padding at the bottom of this bag. There's some clearance b/w the bottom material and the padding inside the main compartment, and I'm thinking about cutting a piece of padding to fit right in there so when I put the bag down, my laptop/iPad won't bang the floor, seat, desk, etc.

My fave!
This backpack has been with me throughout my journey in university. I love it! My favourite part of it is how it is compact and if I were to put pens in the pockets, it would stay upright and I could grab it with ease. I love the sleek black and red look too, it's not too small and it's not too big. Yes, there are criticisms that it does not hold much books for the average university student, but I really wouldn't be carrying around all my text books at all times. It perfectly fits my macbook, my notebook, and one textbook. Honestly, anything over that I would be having back pains anyway. So I'm still keeping it strong at 5 stars. I would re-buy if mine breaks.
