Good quality and value, very tight buckle mechanism
The belt itself is just as you might expect and the quality is nice. The mechanism of the buckle, however, is so 'stiff' that my 8-year-old can barely tighten or loosen it himself. Like any military-style belt of this type, you feed the band through the buckle and then pull back on the 2 metal brads on the top and bottom, which squeezes the band inside so it can't pull back through. Perhaps with more use the brad mechanism will loosen up! Overall I would recommend but if your small child doesn't have a pretty strong grip he may get frustrated with this one.

Three Stars
Pretty hard to open\close for a 6 yrs boy. The buckle mechanism is extremely inconvenient for small hands.

Belt
This belt work fine, to slide the belt can be a little difficult. I had to help a 13 year old several times, simple because she could not squeeze the belt hard enough so it would slide.

Not sure about the buckle fastener
It is quite possible that I just don't know enough about belt fasteners, or that I didn't read the description very closely, but I thought that the clasp on this belt would be like sharp teeth that you would like press down and it would click shut. This fastener is not that, and there are no teeth in the closing mechanism. Inside the metal buckle is a small bar that looks like a heavy duty "file" of sorts. It rolls or slides back and forth in its opening and it is the reverse pressure of the belt when you get it where you want it, then tug backwards, that makes it stop. So, no teeth or real grip or fastening of any sort. It's just sort of reverse pressure. Now, granted, I just received it in the mail, and we will see how it works over time.
