ION iCade Arcade Bluetooth Cabinet for iPad

If, and only if, you have a jailbroken Ipad then this accessory is a must.With iMame and this cabinet you can play almost any retro arcade game as well as retro console games. The library is huge and has many quality titles you will want to relive. The official library is small and not worth the price of admission - in short jailbreak! The build quality of the cabinet is impressive. It took roughly 15 mins to put together. Instructions are easy to follow as is pairing it with your Ipad. The joystick is excellent while the buttons are not quite up to arcade quality - the plastic feels a little bit cheaper and they click loudly. Still this cabinet feels like it should last many, many years. It is sturdy and does not wobble at all. We own a white Ipad so I was a little concerned on how it would look against the mostly black cabinet interior. To be honest once I got gaming I did not even notice the white Ipad bezel. The cabinet gives you a very real arcade experience. We have been rocking Donkey Kong, Wonderboy, Shinobi and Street Fighter 2. The experience is flawless and brings back a ton of good memories. With the expansive game library available this has to be one of the best values in gaming. Hopefully current developers will make use of these controls. Binding Of Isaac on the Ipad and Icade would be awesome. A must buy and easy 5 stars.

i can't say enough how much fun playing classic arcade games are with the icade. it's just not the same with the ipad touch controls. i enjoy playing games like galaca and centipede and astroids. the only game that is a little more difficult still is pacman, i do have fun playing it but the joystick doesn't fully match up to the ones found in the classic machine. pacman still kinda goes in the wrong direction sometimes when your trying to turn. but not always and it's still fun. pairing your icade up with the ipad is simple, infact even more simple with the new ipad then it was with the ipad 1 and 2. you don't even need to press a code like it says on the top roof of the icade. just turn your bluetooth on, hold some buttons for 4 seconds and tap on the icade on the list on your ipad, boom your connected. i'm glad the price went down, because this is a great accessory for the ipad, so much fun mashing the buttons and feeling like i have my own arcade in my home. oh and putting it together is a breeze.

Its cheap, but for the novelty of it, it is cool. It works and that is what counts. The app on the iPad, on the other hand, is an upsell and looks to really drain your account.

This thing is AWESOME! There are so many old school arcade games available, and I literally feel like I'm a kid again playing games in the arcade...only I'm at home and the machine is 1/20th the size. It's a very nice looking unit and the build quality appears to be spectacular (just got it today though so can't speak for long term durability). My only semi-disappointment with it is that I tried the 4 tables that I have (all Androids) and none of them fit properly. My Asus TF300T & Acer iconia a500 (large 10" tablets) are too tall which prevents the top lid from closing all the way, and I'm sure any 10" tablet with a 16:9" screen would be the same . Then I tried a smaller 7" Nexus 7 and it fits, but since it's much thinner an iPad it doesn't sit snug and it kind of flops around. It also looks very small in the large opening. Then I tried my old HP TouchPad (a 9.7" 4:3 screen just like the iPad) which I have running Android, the size of the screen is perfect but it's a little thicker than iPad and it so it doesn't go all the way down in the slot and doesn't feel stable. But it's probably the best fit out of what I have. So this is literally custom made specifically just for the iPad, which I think is kind of short sighted since the iPad has less than 30% of the total market share of tablets. Instead of designing it with a fixed mounting slot which only fits perfectly with the iPad, they should use a sliding spring-loaded bracket - like the ones you see in a lot of the cell phone holders made for cars - and that would allow you to use any tablet (as long as it isn't taller than the iPad) and have it be a nice secure fit. In fact, rather than putting a slot on the bottom they should put an adjustable bracket on the back of the opening since this would allow the back of the tablet to sit flush against the case which would make it very sturdy. Since my HP TouchPad is the closest thing to a perfect fit with the tablets I have, I think I'm just going to take a dremel to the mounting slot and make it a little wider (deeper) so the tablet slides all the way down into the slot and hopefully this will make it not to wobbly when I'm playing games.

I fell in love playing Gridrunner and some other games on my iPad 3 with the iCade. Then I tried it on Mame4droid on my Galaxy Nexus, over 2000 games! I loved that so much I bought an Asus Transformer tf300 tablet to use as a Mame device with the iCade. This is the most awesome tablet accessory in history! The build is quality. It has a better joystick response and button response than many standalone arcade "fightsticks." The cabinet is solid, it is easy to assemble, pairs with my iPad and android devices quickly and easily. This is the most emphatic 5 star review I've ever given.

I so badly want to write a good review here. This is an awesome product. Here's why I had to return it: 1) The buttons "click" when you press them. Really loudly. Your wife won't let you play it within earshot of her. 2) I really feel like the buttons should be labeled. My ipad is jailbroken, so I was using this for NES and SNES games, as well as iMame. Having a labeled button bezel would make it easier to configure the gamepad. 3) In order to turn it off, you have to go to your settings app, and turn off bluetooth. Not a big deal, but an extra step that is kind of a pain in the rump. 4) I could have looked past the above 3, but the thing broke with less than an hour of use. The joystick was stuck thinking it was in the down position, rendering all games unplayable. Final Thought: Buy a frame tripod for your ipad, buy a wiimote. Sync. Play multiplayer. It's a better experience.

Hello ppl, If you are into retro gaming and were lucky enough to have imame (was on the app store for a couple of days) and have access to all the old arcade classic , the icade a must. the joystick very robust and button are perfect , it Bluetooth connect to your ipad so no mess of cables And lot of buttons for all the arcade classic like street fighter 2 (but you need to change the button layout) !! I think the price is perfect comparing to other joystick for ps3 or xbox (hori). The icade very simple but well build and fit together perfectly with thick board so it doesn't feel flimsy, Everyone that see it love it because they just remember the old arcade machine but doesn't take up the space. So you have a ipad turn into a arcade machine running mame ....retro gaming bliss. If perfect for the ppl who always wanted to turn a pc into arcade machine but never really had the time to build an arcade box (it was always on my to do list). I recommend it 100% you wont regret it. it is a great joystick .

The item itself worked fine. Buttons are a tad tin sounding from cheap springs. I tried to get this paired with an android device even though I know its not meant for that. Got it to pair once after cursing and fist slamming on the table. Too much of a headache. I ended up ripping the guts out to build a mini arcade machine. Thats when I noticed they had the grounds color coded on the joystic. They just slap these together. Who cares as long as it works I guess. Anyway, the most enjoyment I got out of this was ripping it apart and using the parts for a diy arcade. That's not what this product is meant for but if you do the math on buying a mini stick, 6 buttons with connectors with wires... its cheaper to buy and gut this. I only gave it 3 stars because of the cheap parts and crappy assembly coupled with my anger that they should make an android compatible version or update.

This is no laminated cardboard gimmick - this is the REAL DEAL!!! Bought as a birthday present for a friend, this iPad Arcade Cabinet was one of the most difficult things to part with - even more so when said friend opened and put it together?! The box was surprisingly big when it arrived safely, inside of 3 days, but when it was built up we were presently surprised - this is a serious gaming accessory!! The panels are made of top quality cabinet material, heavy in weight with fully coated decals on each side. The joystick and buttons are exact replicas of those found on classic arcade games, and there's even a fake coin slot! This was a great bargain, and should proudly grace any self-respecting gamer's room!

L'iCade è una idea geniale, e colma un desiderio "latente" per tutti quelli che hanno vissuto il periodo dei giochi da bar. Dal punto di vista strutturale, è un mobile delle dimensioni ideali: un vero coin-op sarebbe molto più grande, ma lo schermo a tubo catodico usato in piedi sarebbe anche molto più lontano di quanto non sia l'iPad (o quel che ci vorrete collegare, di fatto è compatibile anche con tablet Android ed altre periferiche), e quindi seduti davanti l'impressione di trovarvi di fronte ad un cabinato è assolutamente convincente. L'assemblaggio è semplice, non è proprio di una precisione chirurgica (ho dovuto mettere un foglietto sul mio per garantire la totale assenza di gioco sotto i gommini) ma teniamo conto che parliamo di un prodotto dal costo molto contenuto, che di fatto costa non tanto di più di un buon joystick con queste caratteristiche. Parlando di controlli, è assolutamente perfetto, un gioco da bar "nuovo" (spesso son mezzo rotti i cabinati, maltrattati in ogni modo) che appare davvero robusto e preciso in ogni situazione. La configurazione per il riconoscimento con l'iPad richiede un paio di passaggi, potrebbe essere forse più semplice, ma di fatto il punto di forza del prodotto è proprio il suo essere visto come comune tastiera bluetooth ed essere quindi virtualmente compatibile con qualsiasi cosa pc inclusi (documentatevi pero sul supporto di eventuali emulatori, i tasti vengono gestiti diversamente dalle tastiere standard). Sul fronte titoli, c'è da constatare che al momento la lista dei giochi compatibili è ridotta e piuttosto inconsistente. E' destinata ad aumentare, tuttavia utilizzare questa meraviglia per due partite a Muffin Knight (per citare uno dei migliori) è quasi una eresia. Va utilizzato l'iMame4All presente sia per iOS che per Android, con veri giochi da bar. A quel punto il valore reale dell'iCade si dispiega, ed è una vera droga. Non è il luogo giusto per parlare di questo argomento, ma qualsiasi appassionato di retrogaming con un iPad o un dispositivo compatibile, dovrebbe prima verificare se e come può far girare l'iMame4All e dopo necessariamente acquistare un iCade, è il coronamento di un sogno. Per chi invece vuol farne altro uso (ovvero utilizzarlo con i giochi dello store) francamente mi sembra davvero una spesa inutile, il supporto iCade al momento è una specie di specchietto per le allodole, magari arriveranno prodotti meritevoli in futuro ma per ora il panorama è desolante. Non è certo colpa dell'iCade tuttavia, che resta un acquisto a mio avviso imprescindibile per tutti i giocatori non più giovanissimi (ma ho potuto constatare che anche tutti gli altri non disdegnano, anzi).

Super borne d'arcade pour le prix payé quand je l'ai acheté. Bonne finition et excellent joystick. Fonctionne impec avec mon Ipad Air 1. Doit fonctionner avec n'importe quel Ipad. Piles: longue durée d'utilisation. Pour en tirer le max, l'ideal est d'être jailbreaké en 7.0xx. En effet tous les emulateurs consoles et arcade tournent mais en plus et surtout un tweak excellent "Blutrol" permet de mapper les touches entre le jeux souhaité (pour peu qu'il permette d'afficher un joystick virtuel et les touches sur l'ecran) et l'Ipad. On accede à des milliers de jeux. Y compris Les jeux les plus récents non prévus pour L'icade. C'est ainsi que j'ai pu transformer mon icade en machine à sous comme dans un vrai Casino! Pour ceux qui sont jailbreakés en ios 9.02 (ou inférieur; pour le JB 9.1 une verif est nécessaire) et qui veulent jouer avec de bons vieux jeux de bornes d'acade ça marche avec mame4ios nickel ou encore l'émulateur iFBA, etc... Il suffit d'installer BTstack depuis Cydia. Retroarch 1.3 est aussi compatible et ouvre des horizons nouveaux aux fans de consoles. Enfin le tweak "Blutrol" qui n'a plus été mis à jour depuis le jailbreak 7.0X n'a semble t'il pas été abandonné et pourrait prochainement permettre d'étendre la bibliothèque des jeux supportés à ceux décrits plus haut dans ce post. Les nostalgiques du Vectrex y trouveront également leur compte tant le réalisme est au rendez-vous. A noter que l'ipad Air est moins large que les Ipad précédents mais ça ne gêne pas (l'ideal est de le caler tout en le protégeant avec une coque caoutchouc). La config nécessite de passer temporairement en clavier anglais mais ça prends 10 secondes chrono. Le seul point qui aurait pu être un petit peu amélioré eût été la création de touches de flipper sur les côtés de la borne d'arcade afin de jouer avec des jeux comme Pinball Arcade.certains bidouilleurs s'y sont essayés avec succès, mais cela demande un minimum de travail… pour le reste c'est du tout bon ! Donc en résumé l'Icade est un outil excellent pour qui sait sortir un minimum du standard.

Ein Aprilscherz wurde wahr! Ich wollte das iCade am liebsten gleich nach Erscheinen aus den USA bestellen. Das war aber so einfach nicht möglich und nun ist es endlich auch in Deutschland verfügbar! Klasse! Das Gehäuse sieht sehr peppig aus und ist recht genau verarbeitet. Mit dem integrierten IPad (Kopplung über Bluetooth klappt sauber) sieht es wirklich wie ein kleiner Arcade-Automat aus und mit dem Joystick und den Buttons für Grobmotoriker fühlt es sich auch ebenso an. Sehr niedlich, das kleine Detail mit dem beleuchteten Münzeinwurf (natürlich nur Attrappe). Leider ist es mir so wie dem einen oder anderen hier ergangen, die Steuerung funktioniert nicht komplett. Es hat nichts mit dem US-Tastaturlayout zu tun, bei mir geht "OBEN" beim Joystick nur sporadisch und ist somit im Game sehr hakelig. Man kann das sehr einfach testen, da sich der Controller wie eine Bluetooth-Tastatur am IPad anmeldet. Einfach irgend einen Texteditor aufmachen und alle Knöpfe und den Stick durchtesten. Für jede Bewegung müssen zwei Buchstaben erscheinen. Beim "OBEN" kommen die Buchstaben bei mir nur sehr selten, vollkommen unabhängig vom Layout. Ich schiebe es auf die Produktion in China, habe mir gleich Ersatz geordert. Falls beim Ersatzgerät alles geht, gibt es von mir 5 Sterne. (Ersatzgerät ist tadellos, deshalb nun die vollen Sterne) Die Auswahl der Games ist noch etwas bescheiden aber das macht nichts. Hier ein paar Empfehlungen von mir: - Atari-Klassik Games (gleich komplettes Pack ordern, will man eh alle haben). Da merkt man erst einmal wie schwer früher die Spiele waren. Dagegen ist der ganze Kram von heute absoluter Kindergeburtstag. Lunar Lander hatte ich wohl seit 25 Jahren nicht mehr gespielt. :-) - AirAttack HD hat eine klasse Grafik. Ist aber etwas einfach, dafür kostet es nahezu nichts. - Velocispider ist wie Space Invaders aber mit aufgehübschter Grafik. Beschert nach 10 Leveln garantiert Ausfallerscheinungen in der Hand, die den Feuerbutton bedient. Da werden Muskeln aktiviert, die man seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr gebraucht hat. Die Gratis-Version reicht in meinen Augen dicke. Das schicke Teil hat bei mir im Wohnzimmer gleich einen Ehrenplatz bekommen und ist definitiv ein Hingucker.

Good for vertical games. Not so much for side scrollers. Still solid construction and is as good as the tablet you have in it
