Excellent upgrade to standard tuners
I have a Fender Stratocaster and wanted to prevent strings going out of tune when going ham on the tremolo. I determined that the issue was caused by slinkiness in the strings when wound around the tuning posts of the standard fender tuners. No knocks against Fender. It's a common upgrade, I found. I researched many types of locking tuners and settled on the Steinbergers for their: -Ease of install -Eye catching aesthetics -Sub 10 second string changes -Rattling the sensibilities of purists The install was not as easy as advertised, however. The turners were advertised to fit standard 10mm tuning holes. Perhaps my Made in Mexico strat didn't have the standard hole sizes, for I needed to carefully bore my tuning holes out in order to fit these tuners. I understood that these are essentially Gibson tuners, though. And was prepared for a bit of drilling. Once the holes were bored, the tuners took minutes to drop into place and restring. Since the replacement strings stay in tune no matter how much I beat that trem. I highly recommend these tuners. Been playing with them for about a month. Steinberger recommends pulling in on the trem a bit when the stringing the high E to remove extra slinkiness. It as an extra 5 seconds to changing that string. Not a bad exchange for strings that sing and look cool AF.

A great look that can set your guitar apart.
Not just the same old tuners. A great new look on my custom guitar.

You know you want them. So get them. You won't regret it. I certainly don't.
A great reputation proceeds these tuners. If you're looking at them then you probably already know what they are, how great they are, and why you need them on your firebird. For the record they fit my 2022 Gibson USA Firebird that came from the factory with banjo tuners. I swapped out the already awesome banjo tuners for these and DO NOT regret it at all. Worth the money. I had never used them, only seen them, but can now say I love them and think more guitar brands and models should go this route. So easy to load strings and the tuning ratio is just right. They is a reason they've been a thing for so many years.

Garbage and a waste of time
These things are straight up garbage. Screws were stripped, pieces didn't work right, just a huge waste of time. I was really looking forward to having these but now I can't wait to return them. I'll never buy anything from Steinberger again. If I could give them minus stars I would. I cant believe Amazon is ok with selling this junk. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these.

Very smooth 40:1 action, but a bit weird on a banjo...
I put these tuners on my Clareen tenor banjo. The good news is that the banjo had modern tuners with the same 10mm holes in the headstock, so there was no reaming to resize the holes. The tuners are super smooth and feel really well built. These are a different design than other tuners. You pull the string tight through the tuner, and then lock it in place with a thumb screw on the top. Then you clip the string right behind the tuner (no pointy ends sticking out to prick your finger on). They are "gearless" tuners, and operate on a screw, so tightening the string involves pulling the end of the string down into the tuner. It is a really slick and interesting design. And the 40:1 ratio feels very luxurious, especially on a banjo, where geared tuners are normally 4:1. The only drawback is that on this style instrument, you have tuners on either side of the headstock, instead of all lined up on one side, like many electric guitars. So what's weird about that is that we're used to turning the tuners in opposite directions depending on the side of the headstock that they're on. So I had to undo 25 years of habit, and learn to turn all the tuners the same direction to tighten/loosen the strings. Bu it's a small price to pay for the luxury of clean, accurate tuning!

Every Guitar with tuning issues Needs These period!
These tuning machines are simply another of the many extensions of engineering prowess of the legend who is Ned Steinberger. As with all of his products, these took a minute to get mounted in the existing peg holes. The only modification is a 1/8 pilot hole next to holes on front of headstock (tape up and be safe) There are useful pdfs readily available as you well know. I love these tuners so smooth amd short adjustments. NEW strings a snip, a stretch AND then tune up for the last time. Well, mileage may vary with humidity, weather etc. But seriously, all my guitars are getting these now!

Good quality,
A guitar that needed tuners.

Once you've understood how they work they are just great - smooth, precise and tuning stable. It's a pity that Steinberger does not seem interested in selling them anymore.
