La Crosse Technology 724-1415BL Wireless Rain Station with Temperature and Humidity

Very nice rain gauge. Great information displayed and easy set up. My only complaint is I can’t get the auto backlight feature to work properly. It will turn on correctly but never turns off. Still I’m very happy with the purchase.

This is the second one of these we've purchased. They work well for a couple of years before giving problems., However, don't by the cheaper ones as they aren't up to the job. and need to be replaced in month, not years!

In my previous review I stated I liked it a lot.. But now only about a year old and it will not gauge rain at all, so I will buy a cheaper one next time. .I like that this is accurate and the rain gauge is sturdy. It is a little bit harder to glance at and get the gist, on the indoor screen. Perhaps because of others I have had in the past. Also it does not have indoor temp which is not a deal breaker but I do like to have that.

Update 4/20/22: Well, it’s been nearly a month since I left my message with tech support. Still no return call, so I guess my call “just wasn’t very important to them.” La Crosse support continues to be extremely poor. Please be aware of this before you buy from this company. This unit was fine for the first couple of months and then the indoor unit failed to register the rain gauge. It still correctly reported both indoor and outdoor temps. I contacted La Crosse tech support and after waiting on hold for a while has to leave a message and call back number. 24 hours later, still no return call. I called back and was surprised to get a human! She was very pleasant and confirmed the unit was still under warranty. We tried all methods of trouble shooting including resetting the units. All to no success. Then she quizzed me regard where the outdoor unit was and that it might not work if it’s on a metal table or if the signal had to go through multiple wall surfaces or if it was too far away. I responded that the unit was next to a very large picture window and less than 40 feet from the receiver when in use. Then she said the window might be blocking the signal. Come on now! She had all the excuses lined up. I told her that the rain bucket was in the same inside room as the receiver and the reset failed to connect the two. Finally, she conceded the outdoor unit was faulty and arranged to send me a replacement rain bucket. The bucket arrived yesterday in excellent condition and very quickly. I replaced all the batteries once again and tried to connect the two devices. Once again it failed to connect with the rain bucket. I called tech support again this morning and once again had to leave a message and number. I tried to contact them again this afternoon and again no humans. We shall wait and see if they ever call me back or if I have to keep calling them day after day.

I'd give it a 6 if I could. There was an issue with the unit. I contacted customer support and they responded super quick. In ENGLISH, very knowledgable! Couldn't resolve the issue so they agreed to send me a replacement. I then found the issue and resolved it. Luckily I got back to them before the replacement unit shipped. Product was easy to set up. It is easy to read. Linking the temperature sensor and rain gauge was very easy. Don't go cheap. Much better than the lesser alternatives.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND, CAN'T GO WRONG WITH LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS .

This would get 5 stars if only they had a same day mode in addition to their 24hr mode. I like knowing how rain falls each day. If it rains an inch noon on one day, you still see an inch of rain until noon the next day. The design also has internal bugs because both the units I own (purchased different times/places), occassionally suddenly shows 55.xx inches of rain when it had not rained for a while. But as soon as rain occurs, it reverts to showing the exact real amount. When I contacted LaCrosse tech support, they ignored and told me to reboot, which makes the 55 inches go away but only to return again when it felt like.

Seems to be functioning properly with very easy set-up.

I've had three of these over several years over which time they've made slight improvements that have corrected structural issues I've encountered in this time. Generally, an excellent and reliable rain gauge which is reasonably accurate, given the price. I'm in Queensland, Australia where the rain can vary from prolonged drought to a maximum of 400 mm in 30 hours - all of which the gauge coped with accurately. I estimate the accuracy using the accumulation in a wheelbarrow! I have never had any problems with the wifi connection other than battery failure.

Had it for about a month now. Runs very well. Data is transmitted to receiver (in my case) about 22 feet through glass and walls with out any interruption. I like the background light powered by the usb cord. I hope I can get it through a pacific northwest winter in tons of rain and some snow. Must remember to bring it in when it is freezing. So far its great.

Wi Fi drops out continually. Have great WiFi mesh system with multiple devices all working other than this weather station. In process of requesting replacement.

Easy to setup and use

Had problems with the sensor a day after getting this. Emailed the company and they said they would send a new sensor out. Haven't received it yet but in the meantime, I took all batteries out and let it sit overnight. It's working now. It's a pretty good indicator of temp and rain.
