DAP Weatherproof Patching Compound, White, 16 Oz (7079818740)

This patching compound worked really well for sealing and repairing small cracks and gaps. It spreads smoothly, dries solid, and holds up nicely against weather and moisture. The white color blends well with most surfaces and can be painted over once dry. A reliable product that does exactly what it should — great for outdoor use!

This product is very uniform and easy to spread, you can level with easily, it dries extremely quickly. Once it's dry, it's easy to sand flush. You can fill large holes you can fill salt small holes. You can fill flat shallow holes. Once it's dry and over painted, it's essentially weatherproof. I don't know why anybody would use anything else unless you want a complete curing system like Bondo. This is not structural it's just for cosmetic, but you can rebuild massive areas of loss very easily. It's hard for you to believe how fast it drives.

I cannot speak to durability because I just used this product today, but it went on quickly and my tools cleaned up easily as long as I cleaned them soon after use. I sincerely hope that it is as mildew resistant as the label claims. I removed a star because it does not dry as quickly as I would like in my area. On the other hand, if it dried too quickly, it would be difficult to install into unusually shaped crevices. The texture appeared to be appropriate for my repairs. I will add a star if I this as durable and mildew resistant over time as stated on the the container. The one drawback is that, as the directions say, deeper areas must be built up 1/8 inch at a time. It would be wonderful if I could find a product with the ease of use and mildew resistance of this product, but could be used much thicker. Unfortunately, everything I looked at fell short in one of my key requirements. This did not perfectly fit my needs, but it is the best product available for my repair jobs.

Used this to patch a water damaged hole created by water leaking from our shower onto our drywall and couldn’t be happier with this product!

Initial 9/16/26: When the house was built, the subs installing the exterior sheeting were a bit too aggressive with the nail gun. Most nails throughout the entirety of our home are about a 1/16” recessed in. My OCD finally convinced me that I had to do something about this! I literally invested countless hours filling in every recessed nail. Couldn’t be happier with how this compound applies and cures. Instead of sanding, I hosed down the exterior (after applying the compound, obviously), waited 5 minutes, then used a sponge to finish it off. Perfection… all nail marks are gone! Next step was applying a primer. Next up, another pressure wash (with my Westinghouse electric pressure washer), then will spray paint the exterior with my Graco ProX19.

I had a hole in my white vinyl siding. I use this product to repair the vinyl. The material was easy to spread with a putty knife and set up quickly. The repair is barely visible. I would recommend this product.

Makes the expression “The secret to being a successful contractor is the ability to effectively conceal one’s mistakes” a truism. Have successfully used this product to repair severely weathered fascia with excellent weatherproof results. Mouldable, sand-able, paintable, nearly indestructible.

Have purchased this product a total of three times. The one time I was able to get the product to flow from the dispenser, it worked beautifully. However, the other two tubes purchased simply did not allow the product to flow through the nozzle, despite my widening the nozzle, repeatedly puncturing the nozzle to ensure flow, heating the product by leaving it out on a hot driveway for an hour in advance of application, etc. Simply put, a wonderful product in a completely impractical and incompatible package/dispenser.
