Green Prospector's Scoop

This is a very ridged and sturdy plastic scoop and works great when metal detecting or prospecting for gold. It only weighs 4.4 ounces and the handle is perfect if you have larger hands. The lanyard hole is a nice touch to attach paracord to hang from my dump pouch. This is for scooping and not digging and if you use the tool as intended it will last for many seasons. Great price on a fantastic product.

I bought this to assist with my metal detecting. Not to use as a digging tool, but as a non-metalic scoop to pass my target soil (containing smaller targets) over the coil of the detector. It works great for that. It is very light and appears to be very sturdy.

I had wondered how & if any plastic could handle scooping dirt, sand and gravel. I ordered two for metal detecting and the first thing I noticed is the plastic reminds me of my kitchen cutting board. I have not been gentle with these, I often scrape sediment off bead rock with these and dig in dry creaks and washes and they have only become slightly scuffed, no missing plastic. The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer is that it would be nice if they would float on water because they sink like a rock, even though they don’t weigh very much. On the positive they do have a hole through the handle where you could attach a Paracord lanyard or your own improvised flotation device, making it a non-issue. Over all, an amazing scoop that will handle abuse very well. Update: I have now been abusing these scoops 3 or 4 outings a week on average for nearly a year and still barely any visible wear. Contrary to what the low price might imply, these are NOT throwaway items. I seriously want to know what kind of plastic this is and why my car is not made out of it! Ordering more soon to give to a few friends who garden. they have easily already outlasted ALL of the metal hardware store gardening scoops that I have broken, and they are still good as new. Truly impressed. ps. Make a phone case made out of this same plastic, please!

Scoop worked flawlessly in a mining desert area with damp ground from a recent rain, but I still didn`t metal detect any gold, not the scoops fault. Maybe next time.

I absolutely love this scoop! I would recommend it to anybody that does metal detecting or prospecting for gold. This thing is sturdy and lightweight. Suuuper durable and sturdy being made of strong thick plastic. The shape of it allows you to scoop up a big amount of dirt/sand even from tighter areas. The best advantage is the profile of the scoop making it easy to dig a hole and be able to scoop the material out within that hole. Do yourself a favor and just purchase this scoop. :) Also featured on YouTube with Jeff Williams and many other professional prospectors.

This scoop works great! I use it when metal detecting silver, copper and gold on old mine dumps. Makes quick work of finding the small pieces. It’s very sturdy.
