Our outlet pipe is higher than our sink drain, so water sits above the drain rim. Will this product solve that problem?

Yes. We had the same problem. Our new sink was lower than the older sink and it wasn't going to drain correctly. This solved the issue without having to do major construction.

The center is flared so no gasket is necessary.

how long is the waste end piece ( from the trap to the wall )?

It is only about 8" from the center of the slip joint fitting.

The "threaded adapter" that comes with the kit; is the waste-side a slip joint or threaded? (can't tell from the pic)

It is a slip joint. (Glue joint) great trap.
