Very innovative & thoughtful design!
My first experience with this ice maker did not go well and if it weren't for the incredible design and Capresso's great customer service I would be giving it one star rather than five. This is my second unit. The first unit only worked one time. I contacted Capresso and spoke with a knowledgeable and professional representative who correctly diagnosed the problem: power switch damaged in shipping. The tea maker is packaged with the power switch pressing directly against the inside face of the manufacture's cardboard box (very poor packaging design). Amazon didn't help matters by shipping the unit without any effective packaging.Even though the first unit only worked one time, other than bad packaging, it was evident that the ice tea maker's design is the most innovative and best conceived of any ice tea maker that I'm acquainted with. I've been using ice tea makers for many years, typically every day, and did extensive research before purchasing this one. Some of the attributes which differentiate the Capresso unit from it's peers are:1) A very convenient detachable water reservoir. If you haven't used another unit, this might seem to be a trivial matter, but it isn't. With other units, you have to fill up a pitcher to a defined mark and then pour the water into the ice tea maker. On the Capresso, the water tank easily detaches and can be filled up over a sink until water comes out its overflow vents. You don't even have to lock at the fill mark. Then the tank is just slid back onto the ice maker. The water reservoir has a clever port on the bottom with a valve and silicone seals which feed the ice tea maker when they are connected without leaking.2) The glass pitcher, which many have complain about, is significantly better than the plastic pitchers used by other manufacturers. It is relatively thin, but the glass appears to be very strong. I have hit it against a faucet, sink, and counter-top many times without any damage. Unlike plastic, it's very easy to clean and doesn't stain.3) The tea basket has an integral screen for using loose tea, and prevents broken tea bags from ruining a batch of ice tea. This is just one of those simple features that every ice tea maker should have, but most don't.4) The overall design is very clean and pleasant; especially when compared to other units which look like, and are, cheap plastic crap.I've made hundreds of pitchers of great ice with the Capresso (second unit) without any issues, and I'm very happy with it.________________________UpdateI've been using this unit for more than two years, every day, and it still works great, but I do have a minor complaint regarding the glass pitcher. It can be broken by dropping ice into it. If the ice hits the bottom just right, the pitcher will crack, and they are ridiculously expensive for what they are.I now tilt the pitcher when filling with ice and haven't broken another. It would also be nice if they made a larger capacity unit., but I still haven't encountered a better ice tea maker.

Stopped working after 4 months.
Bought this in August, it only worked 4 months. We were making ice tea in December and it kept shutting off and wouldn't put the water in the pitcher. This is waaaaay too much to pay for something that only works 4 months. I looked at the return policy and it was only guaranteed for 1 month. Dont waste your money. I was worried about the great glass pitcher breaking, never thought the unit would stop working.

Love the look & love how easy it is
My mr coffee ice tea maker has left the house (it’s been donated)! Where has the Capresso ice tea maker been all my life & why didn’t I know about it? I don’t drink coffee or soda so it’s either water or ice tea (during the day anyway 😜) & even though I had an ice tea maker i didn’t drink ice tea very often 😢). My new Capresso stays on my counter - it looks so nice, hardly takes up any room, is so easy to use & so convenient. I can’t believe how many years I had my other ice tea maker - & hardly used it - because it was such a pain to get out all the components, take the pitcher to the sink, find the water line on the pitcher (not near the top) & fill up the pitcher to it, pour the water into the tiny little opening (without spilling), put the tea bag into the “maker lid” & put the lid on that, then put that on the pitcher & put the pitcher with the “maker lid” right next to the white maker thing so it connected just right, press the start button & hope you don’t have a leak - then switch the lids on the pitcher (& find somewhere to put the hot plastic maker lid). Making ice tea was such a pain before that neither my 16 year old step daughter or boyfriend would even consider making it & I didn’t make it very often either - actually. All the components of the mr coffee ice tea maker took up so much space whether we left it out or put it away - out it was an eyesore & wasn’t convenient to use anyway, so I didn’t have it out much but the precious storage space it took was ridiculous too - so I didn’t make my favorite drink - ice tea very often. Now I can drink ice tea (so easily) - year round & I realize how much I missed having ice tea everyday!! After reading some of the other reviews I was a bit scared about the glass pitcher, so scared that I bought a spare along with the machine. I was nervous the first couple weeks but knowing I had a spare was a relief - I think that glass pitcher is pretty strong (knock on wood) I have bumped it on the cast iron sink, on the faucet & even against my quartz counter tops many times now & not a scratch! I guarantee if you like ice tea at home you will love the Capresso- IT IS WORTH EVERY (extra) PENNY!!

Easy to use, but makes like 16 oz of tea.....
I bought this because I wanted an easier way to brew large batches of tea. I finally found out what tea brand Chipotle uses (S&D in case you were wondering) and wanted to make as much as I could at a time without getting out a pot of boiling water. This tea maker got good reviews. The directions tell you to either put water or a crap ton of ice in the carafe before brewing, but I don't want diluted tea! With the slider in the middle of the "strength" I get about 1/3 of the pitcher filled with a brew cycle. Then I have to unplug the machine and let it cool down for a while. I repeat this 2 more times to get a full pitcher of undiluted tea. It's kind of a pain, but I suppose it works. Bottom line is that it does produce good tasting tea (tastes just like Chipotle!) I just have to run multiple cycles to make a lot of it.

Buen producto

Makes Great Ice Tea
Only had this for a couple of months so can't speak to how long it will last. This is a fantastic machine and very easy to use. Makes great ice tea, and one can use many different types of tea for a big variety of flavours. One of our favorites is using a herbal, non-caffeinated berry tea. Kids love it and it gives them a tasty beverage where we control the amount of sugar, there's no caffeine in it, and it's preservative free.

Producto demasiado frágil.
El producto como tal parece bueno, pero la jarra es de un cristal demasiado delgado. Cuando se recibió por parte de la paquetería, venía echa añicos. Solicité el reembolso de mi dinero. Mala experiencia con esta compra.

Handle with care
Is good but pitcher is thin. Already broke the first one after first time using it. Perhaps I'm a little clumsy but it is very fragile. If more durable 5 star.
