2 Pack French Press Filter Replacement Screens, 4 Inch Stainless Steel Mesh

I have a Frieling 36-ounce French Press. I've had it for a couple of years now. My filter finally needed to be replaced, so I started looking at filters through Amazon. (On the Frieling website, the replacement filters are not costly, but the shipping is.) It was a little confusing at first to know which filter would fit the size French press that I own. Most French presses this size are 34-ounces not 36-ounces. So I was not sure if this would fit, especially since it said it was a Bodum replacement filter. I was looking for a filter with a center ring, one that matched closest to my original filter, and this one did. So I decided to give these a try since the price was reasonable with shipping included. The screen filters are a perfect fit! The quality seems to be as good as my original one. With the first use, I had no issues with coffee grains making their way through the filter. I think it would have been very helpful for other reviewers to state exactly what French Press they are using when leaving reviews, maker and SIZE. And then let people know if it was a good fit and the quality compared to the original one. That is why I wanted to leave this review. For anyone who has a 36-ounce Frieling French Press, these filters work perfect and compare in quality to the original filter.

I have the ubiquitous Bodum Chambord 8-cup French press. The filter has always been the most finicky bit, difficult to clean, and over time the wire mesh unravels itself. When I finally managed to render the old filter unusable, it seemed silly to replace the whole French press when the pieces are fairly modular. This replacement filter is indistinguishable from the original (when it was new, anyway), fits perfectly in my French press, and now I have a backup in case I wreck this one. Protip: clean it immediately, because it's not going to get easier if you put it off.

Fits great as a replacement in my 34 oz Thermos Nissan (https://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Insulated-Stainless-Steel-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00004S1DB). Much better than the original filter. Not only is the filter mesh of a better quality, but the whole piece is a bit more rigid and shaped, so it seals better against the edges and doesn't warp and allow grounds to push through at the sides. Now, just like any filter, you have to be careful and not let the edges bend otherwise you get gaps where the grounds can some through. Interestingly, in the photos for this product, some are inaccurate. The photos with the blue background ARE an accurate representation of what the filter looks like. Strong, sturdy and rigid. The photo with the white backgrounds (the first one with a pair and the one that shows it with the french press stem screw base) do not show this filter. It actually shows the type of lesser quality filter that came with my Thermos French Press. This is much better.

I ordered this as a replacement screen for a Bonjour stainless steel thermal french press. While this may be a perfect fit for a Bodum press, it didn't work for mine. The ring in the center was too small to fit my filter assembly. I was able to use a small cuticle scissors to cut the ring out, fearing that the hole may then be too big. Fortunately, it seems to work ok, I'd just suggest that those ordering this item take that into consideration as you may need to order a "universal" replacement screen instead.

Really the BEST! This is a very high quality product for the function intended. Although there are lower cost filter screens available, I expect this will outlast any of the budget offerings by a long margin. There are NO sharp strands on the mesh anywhere! Very easy to keep clean with your fingers in soapy water (NO POKES!), then a warm water rinse and air dry. It fits my Sterling Pro 35oz stainless steel french press very nicely. I use both filters at the same time and they perform as well or better than the original filters in keeping the coffee dregs in the press, and out of your coffee cup. When (and IF) these filters wear out, I will buy them again in a heartbeat. UPDATE: June 2017 ... These filters performed exceptionally well, but eventually started to wear, so I ordered another set. With care in handling when cleaning, they will last a long time before the pokey strands start to develop where the mesh fabric is folded over around the edges. Still pleased!

The perfect replacement for having that fresh taste in coffee again.I began using a french press 15 years ago and for convienience did the k-cup thing for the past 3 years.Tired of that cookie cutter taste, I picked up on the press pot again this year - had a bad experience with poorer imitations that ruined the flavor and did not filter properly after a few uses.The Bodum screens are the best for the Press Pot and not an inferior imitation.They fit perfectly and filtered without letting any coffee grounds through as well as extracting the full flavor expected in using this system.- just as they should. Excellent price for the two as other vendors sold just one for a higher price. Forget finding it in local stores. On a visit to a novelty shop I saw one for sale at $25.00. Hey, I can buy a new French press with a filter for that price! So this purchase was definitely a full value that brings with it a full flavor!

Quality exceeded what I expected. They're a much tighter mesh than the one that came with my Ikea Egentlig 30 oz French press. A press I highly recommend. They feel very sturdy and are definitely better built than what came with the Egentlig. Like the screens that come with my press, they have the center metal ring. They've performed brilliantly since I received them and they haven't begun to fray at the edges like the stock screens did after just a couple of uses even though I use the James Hoffmann French press method where you don't even press the coffee. They're inexpensive enough that I bought 2 sets. I would definitely purchase these again and outside of the random problems being reported in reviews, I have NOT experienced any issues at all.

These replacement mesh pads have smooth edges; these will fray with time but right out of the gate, they are nicely finished. The mesh is a good replacement for your French press 8 cup, because despite good washing, the mesh gets frayed and tarnished with use. Coffee deposits an acidic precipitate that can produce off flavors and of course, it doesn't look pretty after a while. To replace, you simply unscrew the bottom spring plate and the mesh is between the plate and the top retainer. Slip it in. At this time, you can go over the pieces with a soft toothbrush and some baking soda to remove coffee residue. When cleaning the pot between uses, a paste of baking soda is useful but use a toothbrush as the edges of the wire mesh eventually will poke you. Above all do not clean the apparatus by plunging it up and down like a piston (hahah, someone's guy did this, while I shook my head. That's glass, silly. Guess what happens when you scratch it? That's right, it loses its integrity and can break at really inconvenient times, like when you are pouring in hot water.) Anyway, these mesh replacements are great and three in a pack is helpful. You'll have one to replace from time to time or if you have multiple pots (decaf, hi-test and tea?) you can replace them all.
