The cord is a little finicky but it serves its purpose.

My daughter loved this timer because it's just like the one at competitions. It worked great until about 2 months after we bought it, when the wire connector broke. The design is really poor. Instead of the timer input plugging directly into display, the display has a connector that sticks off of it that the connector plugs into. After it got bent enough times, it broke. There is no way to get just a replacement cord if that would fix it, and we certainly aren't going to buy a new $99 display to fix this problem. Don't buy this, unless the design is changed.

which are like alarm clocks
It is way too expensive. Students can not handle the cost. At one time, Sport Stacking used to carry smaller display timers that the students could buy and keep in their bags along with their cups. But for some reason they discontinue them. So my and students and I buy cheaper timers, which are like alarm clocks, which function the same way and are a lot less money.
