Very expensive. Will eventually fail.
I have two. Worked for a couple years. Now it seems as if the laser has been pushed back on both. The light shines through but not strong enough to bend fiber and see the light. I could just buy a lot of cheaper ones for this price.

Very durable and weather resistant but small enough to lose easily. Brighter output than my previous model
Red laser, uses 2 aaa batteries. 2 modes: steady light or flashing. Very durable and weather resistant but small enough to lose easily. Brighter output than my previous model

Bad design
I currently work for an ISP and used this model Viavi VFL exclusively for 7 years both as a field fiber tech and as a headend engineer inside hubs. The main problem was that the buttons are incredibly easy to push so they would get pressed while inside my backpack 100% of the time running the batteries down. So for 7 years I had to take out the batteries after each use. On top of that there is no lanyard hole so you always need to have somewhere flat to set it hoping it doesnt fall and snag fibers when you walk away to check the other end of the fiber. Its body is round and smooth so it had a habit of slipping/sliding all over the place. It would be great if they made it square, added a lanyard hole, button lock feature, and lowered the price to around $50. A few months ago I bought a cheap chinese 30kw one for $20 that works much better. The lanyard allows me to hang it on stuff with the fiber attached which eliminates kinking the fiber. I can shoot visible light up to 30km which helps sometimes when troubleshooting between a hub and a splice can in the field. And of course it was only $20 bucks. Now my one and only desire would be for someone to manufacture a better SC to LC adapter.
