Pool stays clear with very little effort
This is the second season with this pool. Growing up my dad said that owning a pool was a headache. I don't know what he is talking about. I have the Dolphin pool cleaner and the Nature 2. I spend 20 minutes a week doing cleaning and maintenance. When my pool was installed my pool guy told me that the nature 2 was he way to go. he talked me out of salt water. He told me he would make more money on me with doing salt water but he recommended Nature 2. He explained to me that after a few years the salt water starts deteriorating the items around the pool. Granted the salt water tastes better and feels better. I do not know what life is like without the nature 2. All I know is I have to do very little maintenance on my pool to keep it clear Instructions from the guy who installed my pool-- Once a week drop three bags of shock and test the water. The Chlorine should be around .5. My Ph is staying level. He also said don't trust the pool stores that test the water. They get you chasing a number and just want to sell you chemicals. When I closed he pool last fall I thought I would have a slime filled swamp. The pool was clear when I opened it up this spring. So far I have been following his instructions and the pool has been cleared. Also I run the pump at least 4 hours a day to keep the Nature 2 activated.

I'm sold on using Nature2
I love the Nature2 system. I have had an automatic chlorinator that ate the heater after it had eaten thru the internals of the check valve protecting the heater. And also tried a salt generator but found it consumed lots of muriatic acid and produced scale as a by product. The pool contractor insisted on the salt generator because it was so easy for the homeowner. However with a gunite pool on well water, in addition to ScaleTec and muriatic acid by the gallon, I was now also using Cyuranic acid and Phos Free was needed weekly. My chemical cost soared! One more thing, I've always run the pump for one hour for every 10 degrees of outside highest temp. I needed to run the pump 20 hours a day to generate enough free chlorine to reach 3.0 especially after a bout of black algae took hold. The "easy to maintain salt generator" was wildly expensive for chemicals, electricity and never mind to monthly acid washing to remove the build-up of scale inside the generator. Nature2 is by far the best for me. Very low chlorine 0.5 is maintained by floating two 3"tabs in a floating dispenser refilled every 4-5 days. For 100 Degree weather in West Texas, 10 hours of pump run time is plenty for sparkling clear, no chlorine smell, perfectly balanced water that doesn't fade your swimsuit. I might use one gallon of muriatic acid all summer. The big tub of chlorine tablets will easily last two seasons. Weekly I will toss in a few ounces of non-chlorine shock like Fresh n Clear and one can be swiming 15 minutes later. I switched off this twice because of the recommendation of Pool "Professionals" Both times I came back because of algae. Green algae the first time and then my experience with black algae was horrific. Both times the problem was exacerbated with expensive chemicals yet was solved by using Nature2. I've never heard a complaint except the top can come unscrewed and if it does, you're the opposite of unscrewed!

Definitely helps, but I still have issues with algae blooms when FC is below 2ppm
This definitely made a difference and made it so I use less chemicals to maintain the pool, however, I still cannot let the FC get down to 0.5 ppm like the instructions say. Full disclosure, my pool is larger than the maximum size this product says it can handle. Mine is approx. 30,000 gallons, while the max is 25,000. I run the pump longer to address the larger pool volume and I fully expect the cartridge will not last the advertised 6 months as a result. That said, Iโd still expect to be able to achieve the FC levels that are advertised and have control of algae blooms. During the warm summer months when the water temp is upwards of 83 F, I get algae appearing on the sides of the pool even when the FC is above 2 ppm. Without this cartridge I was needing FC above 5 to 6 ppm to keep it under control though.

Excellent Money Saving Cartridge
So how can I claim that spending money on this cartridge will save you money? I have to explain some history... We had our ingound pool built 7 years ago. The builder insisted that we add the Nature2 cartridge into our system. He claimed it was well worth the annual expense. He told me to replace it every six months (I live in Texas where it can get warm all year around) and I would expect to spend less on chemicals. Well that first year, I decided I would wait until the following summer to replace. No problem. Everything was clear and clean. However, after a couple of years I thought I might be spending money I didn't need to and skipped buying it for that summer. What a mistake. My pool was constantly out of balance. I was spending over $100 a month on chemicals I had never needed before. This is on top of the usual cost of chemicals such as chlorine that I was expecting to spend. By the time that summer was over, I had spent over $600 more than I would have otherwise. For the last 5 years, I have faithfully added a refreshed cartridge and reaped the rewards. I rarely add any chemicals besides my chlorine tabs. My pool has been tested every two weeks, and the techs can find nothing wrong with it. My semi-scientific cause and effect research leads me to believe the Nature2 is the reason my pool looks great and my chemical needs are lower.
