There doesn't seem to be any standard these devices pass that shows they really work, and I haven't been able to find any real testing. Basically any device like this should perform well in all four scenarios. Real bills should be detected as real a very high percentage of the time, and detected as fake almost never. This counterfeit detector passes that test. The second two scenarios are that fake bills should be detected as such a high percentage of the time, and pass as real very rarely. This is WHY most people buy a detector like this, but I have NO PROOF that this part of the detector works as I do not believe to posses any of these fake bills. This is the biggest problem with these types of bill detectors is that there is little proof they actually work. Its like buying a car that only sits in your driveway because gas is not available. The dealer tells you that if you ever fill it with gas, it will work fine, but you have no proof of that. I will tell you I have taken a $20, and covered various sections of the bill is an address label and it almost always still passes as good. Just saying... One big negative is the firmware. I bought this unit because it can be firmware upgradeable. As it turns out, this isn't really true. In the users guide it tells you how to upgrade the unit. Connect the cable and install the upgrade. But wait, there was no cable included. It turns out you need to send the unit back to the company for the upgrade. Another reviewer says they will only upgrade it during the warranty and for a price. If that is true, that is a horrible policy. If true, I would NEVER buy another Accubanker device again. Lets hope it isn't true.

False information about updates. Their policies are a joke now at headquarters.
Even tho this is a good unit for what it does, the policy of the company has changed for the worst. It is advertised as you are allowed to do updates for when new bills come out with the supplied cable, this is false. You must send the unit in for updates and be charged for them, but that is not the worst of it. Once the unit is out of warranty, their policy is now no to do any updates on software, even if you are willing to pay for them. Their answer is you must purchase a new unit and pay for updates while it is under its original warranty period. 1. There is no self updating the unit as it says or advertised on box. 2. You can pay for updates, but only during its warranty period. After the warranty period is up, no updates period. They say buy another machine.

The machine works, unfortunately it doesn't count batch bills, or if they are real or fake
The device is fragile, but the customer services is excellent, this machine is for smalls operations, if you have to sort through a large amounts of bills, forget it
