PlayStation 3 500 GB System

I was nervous and skeptical buying a used PS3, but there were a lot of good reviews, so I trusted them. I got the PS3 quickly and even though it was dirty and scratched up, it runs really well. I got it for a Christmas gift for my husband because he has a bunch of games that are his favorite and can only be played on the PS3. We had a PS3 years ago, but it fried and died. Because this is a meaningful gift I wanted it to look nice, so I had my 19 year old daughter, who loves to do nails, draw, and paint, work her magic on this PS3 for her dad. She detail cleaned it, buffed scratches out, and then she painted, and resined scenes from one of my husband's favorite movies on the sides of the PS3. It covered the flaws and made it personalized for him. I know he's going to love it even more now!

Works as it should, no issues so far. Other reviews made us a little nervous about it working good but it’s been completely fine!

I was a little skeptical of purchasing this as I kept hearing that the bulky first edition was better, but I liked that it had a 500GB Hard drive and I bought the PS2 slim way back when which didn't give me any problems. I bought it solely for Kingdom Hearts. I bought it brand new, and it hasn't given me any problems, I only had one issue where it froze on a cut scene, which was odd because I was still able to press the PS button and move around with it, but eventually it let me and I haven't had a repeating problem since. This system also runs very quietly, if I didn't see the green light, I would assume it's shut off; my 360 runs louder than this! There was a day where I played for a couple hours and it was still quiet. The controller is lighter than what I am used too, but after playing for a couple hours I got used to it. I was a little worried about my controller running out of battery, because you have to charge it to your system, but it holds its charge well! I took it to work one day and charged it via PC, it showed no indication that it was charging except some flashing that had eventually stopped, I came home to find out that it had gotten a full charge. While I do like the PS3, I won't be upgrading to PS4, I prefer my Xbox. It's nice to know that I have the option of playing PS3 games again.

I got it as a Christmas gift and I wanted one with the most GB, but despite what was said about the PS3 becoming cheaper after the PS4 comes out, that wasn't really the case. The price of this used one was fair and in "good condition" and on the outside it's shown very little wear so I was pleased about that. It also came with the necessary cables: A/V cord, adapter, USB controller charger, but with no manual or the original box. If that matters to you, which it usually does for me, find a seller that states that it comes with all that; but I accepted that it didn't come with these things, as you can view the manual online and look at videos for additional instructions. The controller, however, didn't hold a charge. The seller was even nice enough to send me another, but it didn't work as well. On the defense to the seller, it's hard to test a PS3 controller, unlike XBox 360 which uses an external battery that you can easily replace; the PS3's controller battery is internal with no knowledge of the life of the battery that was pre-owned. I ended up buying a new controller; and the original Sony controllers is still pretty pricey, but worth it in my opinion. The seller once again was very gracious with my issues and reimbursed me for the faulty controller, so that was awesome. I knocked off one star because of the defective controller; but everything else - the console, cords and adapter was good. In conclusion, I've added a PS3 along with my other last-gens (XBox360/Wii) and was able to get it without breaking my friend's bank. I recommend a PS3 for their great library of games and the seller who takes customer satisfaction seriously.

This is my third count it third Ps3 My last two were serviceable but not great. My Last two systems were the super fat model systems, first one the disc drive died and overheated, second one overheated and blinking light of death. So i;d thought i'd try out the super slim models i originally wanted to get the limited edition "God Of War Super Slim Bundle" but it was near six hundred dollars, and i am not paying six hundred bucks on a ps3. I Spent the last several days uploading my games to the hard drive and started playing games and watching movies immediately, I was able to watch all my 3D based Blu-rays such as "Captain America: the Winter Soldier 3D" and "Spongebob Movie 2: Sponge out of Water 3D" and the 3D looks great! for some reason it just looks much better when play through the super slim system the only problem i have with system really is the "Youtube tv app" its really annoying annoying on my last two systems the app immediately connects to your youtube account, this one made subscribe to all of my channels again and i can't access my favorites or my liked videos that youtube app needs to be fixed. All in all the system is great and it works Beautifully.

This is not a review with my thoughts on the 500gb super slim PS3 console as a gaming device. This is a review of my most recent purchase encounter with Amazon. I had a working edition of this model of PS3 for 6 1/2 years before it crashed. I absolutely loved it and it's one of my favorite gaming consoles. That is why I tried to purchase a used one after my original super slim 500 gb that I bought in 2013 finally crashed at the end of 2019. I decided to invest in a used PS3 super slim 500 gb at a fairly low cost. I bought from the Amazon Warehouse, in Used: Good condition. Shipping was very fast, even faster than expected. I was not impressed with the shipping quality. The inflated cushioning inside the box was deflated, leading me to think the console had been jostling around the entire time it was in transit. The console came with all cables and a controller in an original PS3 super slim box which was great. However, the console DID NOT BOOT UP. Ever. This console has the exact issue my old one does. I plugged the device in and saw the expected red light on the power button, indicating it was receiving power. Then, I pressed the power button, the light turned green as it attempted to boot up and then within 1-2 seconds powered off completely. Now there is no red light. The console is little more than an overpriced brick. Per others I've talked to, this issue is often one with the motherboard or the system's power console. If the motherboard, it can be expensive to repair. More than a used PS3. Regardless, I'm very miffed that Amazon sold me a console advertised in good condition and it never once functioned. Does Amazon not have people testing these devices?? It even had a sticker on the side indicating the hard drive had been reformatted and reset to factory settings. How? It doesn't turn on! I started a return immediately. I purchased from the Amazon warehouse with the idea in mind that they, as opposed to a smaller game seller who may have few or mixed reviews, would be more reliable. I was proved wrong. If I could, I would give NO STARS because that's what this purchase deserves. A big, fat nothing, just like that "nothing" Amazon sold me for $150.

This version of Sony's PlayStation 3 console is compact, sleek, and even stylish. As a casual gamer, this game system is satisfactory, such that it's 500 GB hard drive is more than enough to store my game data, videos, and music. It's super slim design makes for easy placement anywhere in my home where there's a TV. Plus, it is said to use less energy than it's preceding version, the PS3 slim version usually holding an average 250 GB. It shows, as older models tend to fire off like a heating system or an air conditioner after moderate to heavy use. There are no signs of the console burning out, even after several hours of gameplay. (Note: extend the longevity of your game system by not using it so often, you all know the drill.) I keep some space open around my console so it doesn't overheat. The price of the console when I bought it reflected well for my budget too, as I saw it as less than a dollar for every gigabyte storage in the console's hard drive. All in all, if you want the ultimate gaming experience without paying an arm and a leg for the newer PS4, buy this PS3. Even with changes in its design -- there is a hatch covering any inserted game disc that can be opened by pressing the eject button adjacent to the power button on the front -- the console functions in the same capacity as its older models. Some may see this as a downgrade from what is featured with the older models, but it's really of no consequence to me. It enhances that DVD/Blu-Ray kind of feel for me when inserting discs into the the console. Good price for a good device, and well worth the investment… if it doesn't burn out and experience that yellow light of death often seen with the "fat" models.

ok I was not sure to buy this ps3, not sure that it would work ok, but so far it works like new. took a while to remember how to set it up. I'm not young any more lol. I'm a gamer from the commodore 64 age.
