It's the best electric can opener, it works on many sizes of cans and it is fast!
I’ve used many can openers in my life, electric and manual. I favored manual over electric for years, easy to store and usable on many sizes of cans. Manuals have been difficult for me for several years, and it was impossible to find a good, new manual opener to replace my old, broken manual opener. Most countertop, electric can openers only open standard sized cans. This little Hamilton Beach ( 76501G ) can opener is the BEST, besides being adorable, it works great! I’ve had mine since 2023 and it still works well as of Feb. 2026. It circles the can quickly and even opens dented cans. It holds a charge well, though I use it often. It does not have a charge indicator light; I just charge it overnight when it gets slow. If I let it run completely out of charge, I just plug it in, wait about thirty seconds, leave it plugged in and it still opens the can quickly, but I hold the cord up a bit, out of the way, so it does not wrap around the can. I have used it to open the many sizes of round-top cans, including gallon size, large and small tuna cans, and tiny six-ounce cans. I hold the bottom of the six-ounce cans, or they will tip. Small tuna cans, I stack to open. I have not opened a rectangular, or triangular can yet. The magnet on the handle lifts the lid, when you lift the handle slightly. The handle also holds the blade, and easily removes from the unit by lifting slightly farther than just to remove the lid from the can. The handle may then be submerged to wash, but the rest of the unit can only be wiped with a damp cloth. When not in use, I keep my can opener in a bowl in the cabinet. The handle and unit housing are plastic, so it should be used without much force. It took me a bit to get accustomed to placing it properly on the can to cut, but I can do it with one hand now. I love this little can opener!

Works better than most upright, fixed can openers
I have two of these at my other house, but I needed one here to open cans. I already knew that these can openers were very good and worked the best. It is especially significant to realize the difference in this type of can opener from the regular ones. Several years ago, I had large cans that needed to be opened. However, regular can openers can only handle sizes up to a point. This one can go around whatever size can you want. It can go around the world if it had enough battery charge. I pulled this thing out of the box and immediately plugged it in to charge in order to be able to test it for this review. I went outside to water my corn in the garden and came back in and decided to try it out. I tried looking around for some old cans that I could try it out on, and I was not finding any. My wife found a fresh can of beans that she wanted, and I tried it out. The dang thing just went around and cut it open, just like I have seen it do for over 10 years now. So, they have it charged before delivering. Great. Didn't know that. As a minor note, most can openers have a problem with how to connect the can to it and start the motor. This one is no exception. You have to kind of look up in there where the blade is and connect the can just right. It takes a little practice, but it is doable. I am a fan of this little can opener. It is about my 4th one. The other ones are still working well after 10 years. I tried the other cheap ones, but it was pitiful. I was making spaghetti meat sauce and needed to open about 6 or 7 cans of tomato sauce. The cheap can opener that I had bought was really difficult. It would work for a second or two and then disconnect. I had to start it over. But, I had to keep doing this over and over. That's when I decided to buy this can opener that I have seen working before.

Set up of canopener
I like can opener but you have to be sure it is securely set on can. At times the can opener cutting head pops off and takes a few minutes to get it back together

Best damn money i have spent at amazon
I'm very impressed with how simple to use this can opener truly is, I own 11 different cordless can openers all varying in size and price and I can honestly tell you all, from the moment I began to use this one I was blown away with it's ability to just glide right through even #10 cans without any straining or excessive noise and I don't know about all the other reviewers but I had no issues with any aspect of this little workhorse all i can tell you is that as of this review I wish all other manufacturers took as much care as Hamilton Beach has in manufacturing a safe and easy to use product for us who are a little bit older and no longer have the same abilities or strength as we did when we were younger, all I can say is thank you Hamilton Beach for caring enough to keep us elderly individuals in mind when designing your product and unless things change, and I can't forsee that happening, I totally endorse purchasing and using this brand of cordless can opener, also, I love the ease of recharging and how ergonomic this little powerhouse is again I highly recommend this can opener it was worth every penny even though some would exclaim that this opener is overpriced and dangerous to use,I have not found that to be the case and unless that changes and I don't think it will i can sum this review up by saying looks like smooth sailing ahead for this reviewer and I won't be looking back or doubting my purchase .

Non-functional can opener
I did a lot of research to find a can opener that had a small footprint and was easy to operate. Hamilton has been around for quite a while and had a good reputation for quality products. Unfortunately, this product falls very short. To begin with, according to its instructions, the plug needs to click in twice to charge… there is no visible indication (light) to know if it’s charging or not. When we finally needed to use the can opener it worked fine, although it was very loud. We used it several times over the next couple of months and then it just stopped working. We tried everything… we reviewed all instructions, we looked up videos for troubleshooting, we tried charging in different outlets… reached out to the company for help…Again, since there was no light indicator we had no idea of it was charging properly or not. For no apparent reason it just stopped functioning completely. When I reached out to the company & asked for help troubleshooting. I was told they were unable to help me (“they didn’t troubleshoot”); however since my product was under warranty, they could send me a replacement… at an additional cost. On top of losing $40.00 for a non functioning can opener, the company wants me to pay $14.00 more to get another “functional/nonfunctional “? Can opener. If you don’t like to throw your money away… DO NOT BUY!

This can opener is fabulous And it's fast
I was looking for a new can opener because I'm in my 70s and my hands hurt trying to use a manual crank can opener I had one of those kind that cut around the outside and the thing was terribly slow and If it runs out of power and you get it stuck on the can you're screwed, I didn't want a counter top type can opener, This one is compact You can pop it in the drawer when not in use, I have had it for 3 years now and I open a lot of cans It works just as good as it did when I got, If you are opening a little can like 8 oz all you have to do is clamp it on and hold onto the can opener and let the can spin around. I LOVE IT it's Good quality can opener and I recommend it to everyone

Tricky
Nice little can opener. Me being the husband i took a little while to get this to connect to the tin edge but once I had and got the knack of it, it was easy, fine. Unlike my wife who needs to use this all the time as she is the only cook in the house. She cannot get it to connect to the tin at all. Mmmm. I give it 4 star from me but zero from the wife.

Great little opener
This is a small but worthy can opener. Opens virtually any size can and it runs a long time on a charge and charges reasonably fast. It does take a bit of practice, at first, to get it latched on, but once you get the knack of using it, it is a breeze. Love the thing. This is our second one we bought, just in case the originally purchased one gives up. We have had that one several years, still working fine, but nothing lasts forever. Don’t want to be without one.
